Champions 2006
Championships are Sweeter the Second Time Around!
The Nashville Lady Ice Tigers (19U) team roared into their second season with a year end win in the final tournament of the league. In a game that promised all the drama and melodrama of last years' final win the Lady Ice Tigers took the game to the final 21 seconds to tie the game with an unbelievable shot almost from the blue line by Emma Covert. The game ended at 1-1 and went to overtime with each team selecting 5 players for a shootout. Most shots to win. Both teams goalies' were outstanding as they blocked all shots. Then the rest of the bench got to shoot. One after another each team took a chance and came up short. The goalies were just too calm and cool. The Lady Ice Tigers, with a less deep bench than the Louisville Storm, were lined up to start over. On a great fake move Taylor Stokes took the puck to the net and scored. The Nashville Lady Ice Tigers repeated as champions!! Two years in existence and two championships! Way to go, girls!
