==================================================================================

                The NYPD "Finest" Soccer Team  traveled to Ecuador to play a series of charity games and to conduct soccer clinics to local school children. The New York Red Bull's donated 150 soccer balls and 600 Red Bulls t-shirts and gear that were distributed to the students at Republica De Estados Unidos, a public school that provides education to underprivileged children in the Ecuadorian city of Guayaquil.

                 Upon Their arrival they were treated like celebrities. The Guayaquil Police version of E.S.U. named G.O.E., were assigned to escort the team throughout their visit. A press conference was held at the airport were questions relating to the americans visit were taken and the itenirary was outlined to reporters.

                 On their first day, the Finest traveled to a public school and conducted one of several soccer clinics to approximately 200 school children from grades 1-6. With the aid of the New York Red Bulls, soccer balls and t-shirts were donated to the school.

                 On the first leg of their three day three game tour the Finest squared off against a team of sports directors, politicians and ex-cracks (local term for ex-pro players), in the city of Milagros. The match ended with the Finest on top 2-1 and after an exchange of jerseys, the team was tretaed to a special lunch where performers sang and danced with some of the players.

                 Their second game was held at the Port city of Machala. The finest quickly scored against their competition, holding on to the lead to win 3-1. After the game the team was taken portside for a night of seafood and local beer.

                 The  Final game was held at the brand new state of the art River Plate facility in Guayaquil. The team faced off against a talented and determined squad of police officers from the Guayaquil National Police. It was apparent that they had heard of the Finest's previous game victories because the team was stacked with their best players from around the region and several ex-cracks. The team had to endure not only the heat and humidity but the Guayaquil Police that did not want to lose on their home turf in front of their fans. After 90 minutes of physical play and both sides pressuring to come away with the victory, the referee finally blew the whistle ending the match with a draw 1-1. Both teams suffering from exhaustion and injuries shook hands and exchanged gifts in a show of solidarity after the game. Rest and relaxation followed after all the matches were completed with the team taking advantage of free time by shopping, sightseeing, visiting local restaurants clubs and casinos.

              The New York's Finest Soccer Club with deepest gratitude would like to thank the following people, agencies, that without their vision, assistance, guidance and determination, this trip would not have been possible: NYC Police Commissioner Raymond W. Kelly, U.S Embassy Staff, Dino Dominguez, Ernesto Motta (Red Bulls), Mario Concha, Pedro Mena-El Diario La Prensa,  The team not only was able to play a sport they love but were able to bring a smile to the children in Ecuador, meet many warm hearted people and visit different cities in a country that they would otherwise never get the opportunity to visit.  -Next stop is Peru South America
