Northwest Slam Baseball Club: Welcome
This will be Northwest Slam Baseball Club's thirteenth season. The Northwest Slam Renegades will be competing in the 18U age bracket during the 2012 campaign. The players will have a full schedule this season traveling to tournaments in Minnesota, North Dakota, Manitoba, Florida and Ontario as well as playing in the Thunder Bay Men's Senior League.
Slam had one player from the 2011 Renegade team advance to the college ranks which brings the total of Slam players to play college baseball to 29.
The Slam program was developed to give Thunder Bay's elite baseball players the opportunity to showcase their abilities to college coaches and professional scouts. Since there are no High School baseball programs in Thunder Bay, we are trying to give our players a chance to reach the next level, whether it be in the college or professional ranks. Until this program, a promising Northwestern Ontario ballplayer waited until age 17/18 to join a AAA program. Now they have the chance to start earlier, further developing their talents, in order to compete with Southern areas with extended baseball seasons.
The program also includes direction regarding writing colleges to let them know about you, advice on your future in baseball, and training you to take and your talent as far as possible. Will it guarantee you a shot in "THE BIGS"? NO. But it could take you alot further than Thunder Bay ballplayers have ever gone before.
