NSCRO 7s News - Planning is Underway for Qualifying Tournaments Leading to the 2014 Championship

The 2014 NSCRO 7s Men's Small College National Championship is returning to Philadelphia, PA on May 31 and June 1 thanks to the success of the inaugural 7s Championship held this past Spring. It is again being held in conjunction with the CRC 7s run by United World Sports (formerly USA Sevens). Eight teams will head to Philadelphia for a chance to be crowned the Small College National 7s Champion. Both the semifinals and final are planned to take place in PPL Park Stadium on June 1. This past June, Occidental College prevailed over the University of North Florida in front of more than 8,000 fans in the final. Photo above shows UNF's Trace Horevitz in the final against Occidental.

Planning is now underway so NSCRO can establish the dates and locations for its Qualifying Tournaments (QTs) in order to allow NSCRO teams sufficient time to prepare for participation both on and off the field at both a QT and Nationals.

There will be a total of 8 NSCRO 7s QTs held both this Fall and next Spring. NSCRO is currently looking for capable host clubs who can run a QT. Host applications must be submitted by no later than 30 days prior to a QT or Oct. 14, 2013 for Fall QTs and Nov. 17, 2013 for Spring QTs whichever is earlier. The final Spring date for a QT is April 27.

NSCRO is pleased to announce that one of the QTs will be held as part of the Las Vegas Invitational on January 23-25, 2014 in conjunction with the IRB Sevens World Series. This is an Open QT (not Region-specific). To enter sign up for the Las Vegas Invitational and select "Men's NSCRO 7s Qualifier" as your Division when you complete the Registration form. Go to for complete details. All NSCRO teams are requested to stay at the Hard Rock Hotel (one of the discounted tournament hotels).
