DU Wins PacWest Regional and Advances to National Championship

In what was one of the most exciting rugby matches I've ever witnessed, the University of Denver (bka DU) edged Occidental College 31-27 scoring a try on the last play of the match.

With DU's win, the NSCRO "Best of the Best" (aka Final 4) is now complete. DU will face the St. John's University (Collegeville, MN) in the semifinals of the NSCRO Small College National Championship on April 27 at Infinity Park Stadium. Full schedule is available in a separate News article.

The PacWest Region Championship was a success and NSCRO would like to thank the host club, University of Denver and coach Allan Wilson along with the Eastern Rockies RFU for its support and their Referees Society for providing the match officials. Special thanks to Nick Abbott and Owen Wilson for working with me as needed.

In addition to team trophies for the winner and second place team, NSCRO presented individual awards to:
MVP - Casey Slattery, DU
"Heart & Soul" Match Ball
  Benedictine - Jack White
Cal Maritime - Lonnie Shankling, Jr.
  Occidental - Austin Irabor
  Denver - Trevor Hanson
