BUILDING CHARACTER THROUGH SOCCER SINCE 1984

LOCATION: Selden, NY - In the Middle Country School District

Welcome: Welcome and thank you for visiting our website. This website is designed for the Newfield Soccer Club, its coaches, players, parents, families and friends. The Newfield Soccer Club strives to provide an opportunity for the youth of our community to achieve advanced personal and team-oriented soccer skills and to play games at a high level of competition in leagues and tournaments in the sport of soccer, always in the spirit of good sportsmanship. The Club believes that players "having fun" and "developing selfesteem" are important aspects of the program.

Our Mission: Newfield Soccer Club's mission is to promote, teach, and improve the game of soccer, in the spirit of good sportsmanship to all involved, for the benefit of the youth that live within the Middle Country School District, and adjoining communities. It is the objective of the Newfield SC to encourage and promote the development of Newfield players over that of building premier teams at the expense of our current participants.

Please support our teams: The Newfield S.C travel teams run the concession stand at Stagecoach on Sundays. Please, patronize our concession stand!

Parking: Please, do not park outside of designated parking spots in the parking lots at Stagecoach or North Coleman at any time.

Field maintenance: Please clean the sidelines after your game or practice is over.

'Success is no accident. It is hard work, perseverance, learning, studying, sacrifice, and most of all, love of what you are doing or learning to do.' - Pele

 * Players trying out must attend at least 2 tryout dates unless otherwise stated at first tryout.

Travel Culture:

It is our belief that players must enjoy playing and training to remain interested in the game, and therefore continue to improve as youth soccer players. This does not mean winning is not important.  We just feel there are ways to achieve success without sacrificing the enjoyment.

Commitment:

Participation in a travel program is a commitment of both player and family.  For a travel team to be competitive, we believe they should train at least ten months out of the year.  LGN Travel teams participate in one or more of the following competitions;

LIJSL Fall/ Spring Seasons

**Now offer US Club team play (NYCSL / PL (formerly known as RPL)

NY cup

Long Island Cup

State Cup

Winter Training and futsal

Summer training/camps

Tournaments

Teams hold at least two practices a week.  Most teams work with an LGN Club training staff member twice (2) per week. Some full time. Others once a week.

Travel Costs

A travel team incurs the costs of a professional training (Various teams differ in commitments), league registration, uniforms, tournaments, and futsal.  To assist the team with the costs incurred, we will conduct fundraisers throughout the year.
