John "Smokey" Moore grew up in Somerville,Ma where he excelled in both baseball and hockey. Mr. Moore has been a resident of Revere,Ma for nearly 20 years. His playing experience has taken him from Somerville Little League,Somerville Babe Ruth, Minuteman High School in Lexington,Ma and also Roger Williams University in Bristol,RI where he was a 2 sport athlete. "Smokey" also has played in some of the top amateur / semi-pro baseball leagues in New England starting at age 18 with Mass Envelope of the Boston Park League and then with the former Augustine A's (Now Gately A's) of the Intercity League under Boston and Melrose legend John Brickley and also Elm Supply (Now Cassell Club) of the Intercity League under legendary coach Tom Cassell of Somerville,Ma. His coaching resume is extensive. He began coaching in 1984 at age 17 within the Somerville Little League system. He currently coaches in Revere,Ma at St. Mary's Cal Ripken where he also served as a board member running the entire Major Leagues of that league until 2008. "Smokey" is also a coach with the Boston Jr. Rams U12 AAU program and is a baseball instructor to many of the area's young baseball players. Together, John "Smokey" Moore and George Laws of the former Revere Lugnuts - MSBL AL League Champs in 2004 branched off in 2006 to start their own team the North Shore Black Sox.
