ATTENTION COACHES/PARENTS/WRESTLERS!!!

Last weekend, we had nearly 500 wrestlers and the Bout Room was very busy, to say the least. On top of this, they were inundated with questions regarding the matches as well as questions completely unrelated to the Bout Room activities. As a result, we are implementing & enforcing the following rules immediately.

1.      Only COACHES with wristbands are allowed to approach the BOUT ROOM with questions about brackets, matches, etc. Please do not send parents, wrestlers, etc. to the Bout Room, as they will be turned away. Also, please check the posted brackets before inquiring at the Bout Room. Your question may be answered simply by checking the posted brackets first.

2.      COACHES: When you come to the Bout Room to ask a question, please bring your courtesy and good manners. These ladies are working very hard to get the matches out quickly and correctly. We ask that you treat them with respect and courtesy. (They will do the same.) Please be reasonable, fair & polite.

3.      Sometimes you may not be satisfied with their answer. Please do not take up their time arguing with them. If you are dissatisfied with the response you receive, please discuss your matter with either Anthony Nunez (Vice President) or Juan Rodriguez (Vice President 2). If the issue requires further attention, they will discuss the matter with Eddie Ruiz, President.

4.      COACHES are responsible for making sure that the CORRECT WINNER is circled on the bout sheet. (The Bout Room may not be able to correct a bracket once the next round begins.) Please make sure that the winning wrestler signs the sheet and double check that the correct winner is circled. The table workers do not know the name of every wrestler and by signing the bout sheet, you are agreeing that it indicates the correct winner. Please make sure only the WRESTLER or COACH signs the sheet. The referee should not be signing for the wrestler.

5.      The Bout Room workers are human and errors may occur from time to time. Please do not take this personally. If you find that an error has been made, please ask your coach to alert the Bout Room. Again, please be respectful and courteous.

6.      Please do not remove the bout sheets from the tables after your match. We have assigned runners to pick up the paperwork and take it directly the correct person in the Bout Room. Although we appreciate you trying to help, this will help us to avoid losing bout sheets.

7.      Lastly, the Bout Room is a hub of activity but it is not an information table. If you have a question regarding the location of the medals, restrooms, staging, snack bar, posted brackets, etc. please check with someone at the announcer’s table or someone working security. If you are hosting a tournament, please try to post clear signs and make sure your volunteers can answer these common questions.

Thank you for your cooperation!! ~ CAGWA Board

Good Work

Good job to those that attended the tournament on Sunday. It was a really big turnout as some did not leave the tournament until 8pm. We will be have a normal schedule this week with practices on Monday and Wednesday 5:30-7:30, Friday 5:30-7, and CAGWA tournament Sunday at Beckman HS in Irvine. Next week we will not have practice on Monday as it is a holiday and you all need the day for yourselfs. I did not get those raffle ticket booklets this weekend as I did not see CAGWA president Eddie Ruiz. We will attempt to get them next weekend. See you all tonight.

National Wrestling Camp @ Brea H.S. July 20-24

Also, I highly encourage that the kids attend the National Wrestling Camp @ Brea H.S. July 20-24 (FYI, they stated young kids with experience can attend, but a parent needs to be present). Camp Director is Coach Steve Lawson of El Dorado H.S. and it will be a very good camp. Coach Lawson stated that they will only accept 100 kids, so if you plan to go, please get your deposit in ASAP. I have a ton of flyers at the wrestling room, if you did not get one last night. Coach Lawson said he will hold spots if you get your deposit in. Lets see if we can have a good representation of the Piranhas/VHS wrestlers at this camp. My goal is to get minimum of 10 kids to attend.
