DePaul Drops 2-1 Decision to Drake

CHICAGOThe visiting Drake Bulldogs scored a goal in each half to knock off the Blue emons, 2-1, on Friday afternoon at Wish Field. Jennifer Dyer tied the match in the first half for her 10th career goal, but Drake found the game-winner in the 75th minute. Drake (1-1-1) got on the board first off a corner kick by Nikki Thaden. Thaden served the ball towards the far post where Kaite Sauer sent in a liner on the one-timer. DePaul defender Janina Locascio nearly knocked the ball out of the goal, but Sauer’s liner squeezed just inside the right post at 11:37.Jennifer Dyer tallied the equalizer on a penalty kick on the 25th minute. Following a foul on Shannon Williams in the penalty box, Dyer converted the penalty shot at 24:55 for her first goal of the season. With the score, she became the fourth player in school history with at least 10 career goals and 10 career assists.The match played even until the Bulldogs broke through in the 75th minute. Bailey Dorrington found Katie Anderson just outside the penalty and she beat DePaul keeper Britnni Lally at 74:25. Lally got a hand on the shot, but Anderson put just enough on it for the ball to cross the goal line.DePaul (2-2-0) created opportunities in the final 15 minutes, but the Drake defense was there each time to defend the net. Lally finished the match with six saves while Drake’s Jenny Schroeder totaled two saves. The Bulldogs took 10 shots in the match while DePaul finished with seven shots. Tiffany Jordan tallied three shots for the Blue Demons including two attempts on goal.The Blue Demons return to the road for a Sunday afternoon match at Southeast Missouri State. Kickoff in Cape Girardeau, Mo., is set for 2 p.m.Match Notes: Jennifer Dyer moved into seventh all-time with her 10th career goal... she also becomes the fourth player in program history to record at least 10 career goals and 10 career assists... Dyer is sixth all-time with 33 points (10G/13A)...
