The Northwest Chapter of the New Jersey Track and Field Officials Association (NJTFOA) is seeking individuals interested in becoming NJSIAA certified Track and field officials. Our 2010 cadet school is now forming.
Requirements to become a certified official include:
· Minimum Age of 18.
· Attend a cadet school administered by a local chapter of NJTFOA. (Track & field coaches with at least five years of verifiable, scholastic coaching experience are exempt from the class attendance requirement.)
· Successfully pass the National Federation of State High School Associations Rules Test.
The cadet school will consist of five classes prior to the test. This year’s Northwest Chapter school will be held at the First Presbyterian Church of Dover, 51 W. Blackwell Street, Dover, NJ.
Classes will meet from 7:30 pm to 9:00 pm on the following Mondays: January 25, February 1,8,15,and 22,2010. The test is March 1, 2010. In the event a class session is cancelled due to inclement weather, the alternate test date is March 8, 2010. Tuition for the course ($25 for cadets required to take the course and $20 for coaches eligible to take the test only) covers materials and state test fees.
Individuals who successfully pass the rules test may begin officiating high school track and field meets in New Jersey this spring.
