History
The Scorpions Wrestling School is one of the oldest wrestling schools in New Jersey. Founded in 1975 by Julio Rodriguez, the Scorpions Wrestling School was an independently operated, grassroots organization, promoting the sport of wrestling to youth of all ages.
In 1983, following his return from competing at the Pan American Games, brother, Carlos Rodriguez, took over Scorpions Wrestling School. Training out of facilities such as the YMCA, Don Bosco Technical High School in NJ and John F Kennedy High School in NJ, Scorpions Wrestling has produced some of the toughest wrestlers in the nation.

The Scorpions Wrestling School has produced many successful wrestlers; including Youth and High School County, District, Region, State, AAU, and National Champions, as well as, High School All-Americans. Our wrestlers train all year round to maximize their potential. Scorpion wrestlers can be found training and travelling the country in season and in the off-season. We believe, "If the buses are still running, there's practice." We also believe, wrestlers must start training for the next season, the day after the current season has finished. We take wrestling extremely seriously at Scorpions Wrestling School and we are very passionate about the sport. If you don't like criticism, we are not for you. If you don't like to train, we are not for you. If you don't like change or to try new things, we are not for you. Scorpions Wrestling School is designed for the serious wrestler, not the part-time wrestler. We are here to train you, and push you to the limit.

Scorpions Wrestling has also graduated many successful professionals, such as doctors, lawyers, social workers, law enforcement workers, judges, etc. At Scorpions Wrestling, we put education first. We preach to our atheletes that wrestling is an avenue and a way to get into college, but grades are first. School is #1 to us. We demand report cards from all of our wrestlers in order to keep track of their academic standings. We also are very fortunate to have staff members and former wrestlers volunteer to tutor and help our wrestlers. Education is a strict policy with us as we have suspended wrestlers for not bringing in report cards. We attempt to keep very close contact with our wrestlers, teachers and our parents in order to share the same goal of graduating our wrestlers from high school and moving on to college. Our most happiest moments at Scorpion Wrestling School have been former wrestlers coming back to display their college degrees. There is nothing more satisfying

" I remember my first Scorpion Wrestling practice back in 1986 when I was seven years old. I walked into the basement of the YMCA, down a long corrider into what seemed to be a dungeon. It was hot, there were no windows, the walls were made of cinderblock and the room was musty and dark. The atmosphere to me was intimidating but I knew this is where i wanted to be. After a year and a half of training at Scorpions Wrestling, I became a two-time, back to back, rec. state champ. My life has never been the same since. Scorpions Wrestling trained me to become a Youth State Champion, a High School National Prep. All-American and a college graduate. I even entered a National Tournament in Colorado in 2005, after not wrestling for eight years and took first place. If it wasn't for what I was taught, I don't think I would have won that tournament. Now, I am back together with my teacher, trying to give back to all wrestlers, what he has taught me. Scorpions Wrestling gave me the skills that I needed to become a national caliber wrestler, as well as the mentality to be the best in everything I did. I have never been a part of a family such as this one. Like we say, "Once a Scorpion, always a Scorpion."
