Message from the President

To All Members,

The leaves have turned, the Fall Classic is behind us and the final rounds of the Fall sport  state playoffs are close to completion.  What does that mean for all of us?  We are one quarter closer to the point when it is OUR turn to take the field and officiate baseball and softball games for the thousands of student athletes across the state of New Jersey. The Executive Committee has met and put in place its plan for the 2015 season. I believe most of you are aware that the NJSIAA will take control of State Tournament assignments for the coming year.

The Chapter has been notified that observers will be sent throughout the State evaluating its members. While the Chapter will be sending its recommendations to the NJSIAA for consideration, the final determination of who is selected will rest in the hands of Robbinsville. Your performance on the Field is just like that of a Broadway actor.

You must BRING IT for every show whether a critic is in attendance or not. We never know when and where they will show, but as a professional the notion that someone might be watching should never enter your mind.  Every time we take the field we are REQUIRED to deliver a FOUR STAR performance.  Work on your mechanics, positioning, knowledge of the rules, conditioning and timing and set a GOAL to be the BEST umpire you can be for the 2015 season.

Enjoy the Holidays……

Kevin Downes, President
