Boys Advance to Regional Play with Victory Over Winfield (1-0)

Wins don't come easy for the Wildcats, but they are starting to come now.  It was a heart stopper at Schoenbaum Field Saturday evening as the Wildcats won in sudden death overtime.  After 100 minutes of play, the Wildcats were starting to show signs of fatigue and some boys had severe cramps due to the cold weather.  In a bold move to help the offense create a scoring opportunity, Nitro Coach Dan Rollins moved Matt to the midfield.  Matt exploded and dribbled  50 yards to the corner .  He passed off to Jordan, who made a textbook pass in front of the goal, while Jamey Kerns streaked in from the side to make the winning goal.  Daniel was excellent in the goal with 10 stops.  There were a few minutes of worry in the opening second half while Alex was out due to a head injury.  Mikie, Steven, Ryne, and Ryan were able to hold down the defense while Alex sat out to clear the cobwebs.  The Wildcats move to Regional play Tuesday against Point Pleasant at Ripley.  Game time is set for 5:30 p.m.
