Monday, August 11 Gems Complete A Highly Successful 2008 Summer Season! While the Gems' "mission" is for the girls to have fun and learn to play the game to the best of their abilities, we're not adverse to winning. And the 2008 team was the most successful in the history of the program, posting a 21-13-1 record, and winning the "Battle at Burnham" and "Summer Sizzler" tournaments, and earning a bid to the "2009 NSA Nationals". Congratulations, ladies, on a job VERY well done. Congratulations to Megan Rizzi who was named to the 2008 Class-I First Team All-State team. Congratulations, as well, to Megan Rizzi who was named "2008 New Hampshire Class-I Player of the Year". Sunday, September 23 2007 Season Comes To A Successful End. The 2007 season came to a successful ending when the Gems battled to a 3-2 record at the Fall Brawl in Dracut, and Lowell over the September 22-23 weekend. Coach Jimmy was delighted with how well the team played, particularly given that only three of the players were returnees from last year's team, and that four of our players were unavailable for the weekend. A little "tweaking" here, a little "tweaking" there, and the return of the rest of the team, and watch out...we should be right in the thick of things. Thanks to everyone for a great weekend...and special thanks to Rebecca and Chelsea for their help this weekend...your contributions were significant, and greatly appreciated. Tuesday, October 2 A Picture's Worth A Thousand Words! Coach Jim and "Dillon the Villain".
Want To Help Keep Softball In The Olympics? As you may know, the petition to reinstate softball in the 2012 Olympics has been "rejected". A new petition has been started to attempt to get softball back in the (2016) Olympics. Check out the "Re-Instate Olympic Softball 2016" website by clicking on the following link. 2016 Olympic Softball Petition How About This...? Thursday, March 8 A Letter From Coach Jimmy Letter from Coach Rines As our winter work outs come to a close I would like to congratulate all of our players on a tremendous job well done. Each player has become a better player, and a stronger player because of your work ethic, commitment, and your desire to succeed. Our coaching staffs take a lot of pride in our program, not only in organizing the work-outs and scheduling events, but we also take pride in our players and their improvements. The game of fastpitch softball is one of the most exciting games to play at any level. It is also one of the hardest games to play. To succeed at such a game, each player must practice hard, learn and understand game situations, support one another, and deal with adversity. But most of all you, can not be afraid to fail. Push your comfortable limits, trust in your abilities, and always be confident in what you have been taught. I am very pleased with the way each of you has conducted yourselves during Power Series work outs and at the Hampshire Dome. You have represented our organization with honor and respect. I have had many compliments on all of our teams, players, coaches and parents. After the High School season has ended our summer seasons will begin. Your tournament schedules are posted and your practice and scrimmage game schedules will be posted soon. During all of your practices and games, I expect hard work; I expect you to be on time; I expect you to work on the skills that we have worked on during the winter; I expect all of you to keep up with your school work; and I expect you to win. All players, coaches and parents are expected to show outstanding sportsmanship during all events. We will show support to all of our players and we will represent our organization in a professional manner. Remember “the kids cannot play with out the umpires”. I would like to thank Coach Bob Caswell for his expertise and the use of his Power Series facility, the Hampshire Dome, Nashua Baseball Academy, and all of our coaches for a job well done. I would also like to thank all of the parents for their support, and Scott for our web site. Most of all I am proud of all of our players. Have a great spring, check the web site for updates, and have a great time. |
