NCR Tigers: NCR Team News
![]() |
Well it was a good start to the 2011 season today as the NCR Tigers defeated the Police Cubs from Evans 40-24. Our offense was clicking on all cyclinders and our defense played a great game as well. They got us a couple of stops that allowed the offense to take over the game and cruise for the victory.
The Police Cubs won the toss, took the ball and went right to work. On their second play from scrimmage, their quarterback would scamper 60 yards for the games' first touchdown. Bryce Caldwell would break up a pass on their extra point and the score remained 6-0. We wasted no time in taking the lead in this one. Jett Frazier outran the Cubs defense for a 60 yard touchdown of his own. Jett converted the extra point, as Connor Brady knocked a kid clear out of his cleats on the play. After a couple of minutes of play we lead 7-6.
The Cubs came right back at us on their next possession. After a couple of good plays from our defense, their QB would once again find a hole and rumble 56 yards for his second TD of the game. Bryce Caldwell and Kaiden Kuykendall would make a great play on the extra point to stuff the Cubs and the score remained 12-7 with 2:42 left in the 1st quarter. Our offense would then put together a nice drive to give us the lead back for good in this one. Jett would break free for a 37 yard run and Ethan Arnold rumbled for 13 yards to move the ball to the Police Cubs 12-yard line. Connor Brady would go around the left side for an 8-yard gain and we had the ball 1st and goal at the 4. Ethan then finished the drive off as he ran behind the blocking of Cannon England and Hayden Rofkahr for his first touchdown of the season. Our extra point failed but we had grabbed the lead at 13-12.
Our defense would then step up and come up with a huge stop on the Cubs next possession. Great plays from Kaiden Kuykendall, Nick Hewett and Bryce Caldwell would force the Cubs in a 4th and long. The Tigers defensive line would then bust thru and sack the quarterback giving the ball back to our offense. Great job Caleb Reed, Chase Tedder, Taegan Staggs and Andrew Bone. Our offense would waste no time in getting more points on the board. Connor reeled off a 30-yard gain to move the ball to the Cubs 10-yard line. Ethan then darted up the middle for his second touchdown of the game. After Jett converted the extra point, we held a 20-12 lead.
The Cubs would try to get a score before the half ended, but plays from Bryce, Kaiden and Chase Tedder would stuff any hope the Cubs had of that. Our defense had once again held the Cubs to end the 2nd quarter and we went into half-time feeling pretty good about ourselves. The 3rd quarter we would put this game away. Ethan completed a 28-yard pass to Connor to get things rolling. Connor then spinned, cut and juked his way to the Cubs 4-yard line. After a short run by Ethan, we would score again on a Connor 3-yard run. Jett once again converted the extra point giving us a 27-12 lead.
The Cubs offense got things going again on their next possession. Our defense sure didn't make things easy on them. They put together a 7 play, 60-yard drive to pull within 27-18 by the end of the 3rd quarter. Our offense went right back to work as Jett would get things going again with a 34-yard scamper. After a Connor 19-yard run we would have the ball at the Cubs 3-yard line. Jayden Brown would do the rest as he bulled his way in for another Tiger TD. Ethan completed a short pass to Connor to convert the extra point and give us a 34-18 lead with just 2:00 minutes left in the game.
Both teams would score again in the final two minutes. After a Cubs TD, we would go 60 yards in three plays to score the final TD of the game. Jayden ended the drive with a 35-yard touchdown run, making the final score 40-24. Great first game of the season. Very proud of the way these young Tigers played today. Will get much tougher next week as we face one of the best teams in the league in the Webb Energy Wildcats.

NCR Week 1 - Offensive Player of the Week - Jett Frazier
![]() |
Our week 1 offensive player of the week is Jett Frazier. Jett had a great game versus the Police Cubs on Saturday as he rushed for 156 yards on just 4 carries. Jett scored his first touchdown of the season and also converted three extra points in the game. The Cubs had no answer for our offense all day and Jett was a big reason why. Great job this week Jett, we are very proud of you!
NCR Week 1 - Defensive Player of the Week - Bryce Caldwell
![]() |
Our week 1 defensive player of the week is Bryce Caldwell. Bryce was all over the place on Saturday, recording 9 tackles, including two QB sacks. Bryce has really become the leader of our defense and was a big reason our defense got us a couple of big stops on Saturday. Great job this week Bryce, we are very proud of you!
Tigers win on final play with Frazier TD!

Wow, was this one fun or what! Just when it looked like we were out of this one, these Tigers kept fighting, made some plays and got a little luck to pull this one out. It was a huge win and our first over the Webb Energy Wildcats since 2006. Let's see how it all went down.
We got the ball to open the game and put together a nice drive. Seemed early in the game we were fighting not only the Wildcats, but the officials also. After a short pass from Ethan to Connor, Jett Frazier would scamper 43 yards to put us on the Wildcats 10-yard line. After a holding call, Jett would relled off a 7-yard gain. Connor Brady then moved the ball to the 3 with an 11-yard rumble. Ethan Arnold would do the rest as he would QB sneak it in for an early 6-0 lead. Jett converted the extra point and it was time for our defense to go to work against the best running back in the league.
It didn't take Webb Energy long as they would score in just two plays on a great run by Merriweather. Chase Tedder would then bust thru the Wildcat line and sack the QB to snuff out the extra point. The great play from Chase would keep us in the lead at 7-6.
Ethan got our next drive going with a 19-yard run. Jayden Brown then broke free down the sideline for a 44-yard touchdown run, but it was called back due to a block in the back penalty. We then had a couple of plays for short gain and on a 4th and long, we were called once again for holding and Webb Energy would take over on downs. At this point in the game we had been called for 4 penalties for 50 yards, while the Wildcats had yet to have a penalty. That would soon change and the flags would even out finally.
Webb Energy would then waste no time taking their first lead of the game with a 60-yard touchdown scamper. Nick Hewett made a good tackle to stop their extra point and the score remained 12-7. Our offense would then step up to the challenge in getting us the lead back right before the half. We put together a nice 5-play 60 yard drive to take a 13-12 lead. The highlight of the drive was a 38-yard run by Connor. Ethan would cap off the drive with a 3-yard QB draw for his second touchdown of the game. Our extra point failed but we held a 13-12 lead with just 8 seconds left until the half. The Wildcats got off one play, but Desmond Lopez made a good open field tackle to stop any hope they had to score.
The Wildcats would get the ball to begin the 3rd quarter and would put together a 5-play 60 yard drive capped off by a 40-yard touchdown run by their quarterback after he had just fumbled the snap. Webb finally converted an extra point and took a 19-13 lead midway through the 3rd quarter. Our offense would then sputter on our next possession. Our offensive line suddenly started to struggle to keep the Wildcats out of our backfield. We hardly had time to get a hand-off and the result would be a 4th and 21 that we could not convert. The Wildcats would take back over the ball at our 30-yard line and would score on their first play from scrimmage. Avery Walker would make a good play to stop their extra point and as the 3rd quarter came to an end, we trailed 25-13 and things weren't looking good.
I stressed to the offense on the sideline that we must score and do it quickly on our next possession. That is exactly what we did. Connor and Ethan both reeled off good runs and Jayden would break free for a 33-yard touchdown scamper. Connor would dive in the endzone and convert the extra point, pulling us within 25-20 with 2:48 left in the game.
The Wildcats would then move the ball to our 40-yard line on another good run by Merriweather. After a facemask penalty, they would have a 1st down and the clock was now our biggest enemy. We called both our time-outs and Webb started taking a knee to run out the rest of the clock. I was trying to figure the time left in my head and knew if they continued to do that it would leave us with time for at least one or two more plays. As it turned out, we would get the ball back with 5.8 seconds left in the game. Jett stepped up in the huddle and said he would get us in the endzone. I gave them their blocking assignments with Connor having the task of taking out two Wildcat players on the play. Jett would take the direct snap from Cannon England and his blockers made a wall for him to follow behind. Jayden and Ethan sealed off their defender and Connor knocked two Wildcat defenders to the ground and Jett would do the rest. Wow, what a finish! Goes to show you that it's never over until the final buzzer sounds. Great come from behind win by the Tigers. We outscored Webb 14-6 in the final quarter and that would be the difference in this one.
Lots of heroes in this game. Of course Jett's final run is what is left on everyone's mind but let's not forget the great blocking he got on the play. Also our offensive line did a good job most of the game against a very good Wildcat defensive line. Cannon England was awesome at center for us today. He got some big time help from his new partner on the O-line, Hayden Rofkahr. Hayden kept the Wildcat's best lineman off of Cannon most of the game. Great job to both of these guys. Our defense had trouble stopping Merriweather, but made some huge stops on extra points, which proved to be the diffence in the game. A great team effort today and I could not be prouder of this group of Tigers. Next week we face our rival team from Goldtrap, the NFP Bulldogs. Be ready for a good one next Saturday.
NCR Week 2 - Offensive Player of the Week - Jayden Brown
![]() |
Our player of the week for the second week of the season is Jayden Brown. Jayden rushed for 36 yards on 4 carries and had a touchdown on Saturday in our big win over the Webb Energy Wildcats. Jayden would have had even more yards rushing but one of his long runs was called back due to a block in the back. Despite that Jayden had a good game and has really become one of the leaders for our offense. He is a great kid with a good attitude. Good job this week Jayden, we are very proud of you!
NCR Week 2 - Defensive Player of the Week - Chase Tedder
![]() |
Our week 2 defensive player of the week is Chase Tedder. Chase had a couple of tackles in the game on Saturday versus Webb Energy, one of them being a huge QB sack late in the game when we needed a big play. He may be our most improved player back from last season and has really become a force on our defensive line. Great job Chase, we are very proud of you!
Tigers send Bulldogs home crying, 28-14!

It sure wasn't the prettiest win we have ever had, but we'll take it anyway. We came out today and was very sluggish on both sides of the ball. Our offense never really got into sync the entire day. Defensively we played pretty well, with the exception of a few long runs by the Bulldogs. But bottom line the kids played hard and we got the win despite not playing our best.
The Bulldogs got the ball to open the game and our defense was up to the challenge early in this one. A couple of good plays by Caleb Reed and Avery Walker would force the Bulldogs into a 4th and long. Our defense held and we took the ball over on the Bulldogs 46-yard line. It didn't take us long to get on the scoreboard. Ethan Arnold would rumble for 25 yards to move the ball to the 21-yard line. After a short gain by Connor Brady, Ethan would then scamper for a 20-yard touchdown run to give us an early lead. Jayden Brown would convert the extra point and we lead 7-0 mid-way thru the 1st quarter.
On the Bulldogs next possession they would put together a long 10 play 60 yard drive. They would not only score on the play with a Will Beckham TD run, but they would also chew up the rest of the 1st quarter and most of the 2nd quarter clock. We got the ball back with under 2 minutes left in the half but went right to work. Connor reeled off a 21-yard run to move the ball to the 39-yard line. After a motion penalty, Ethan had a nice 19-yard run and we were back in business. Jett Frazier would then take the direct snap from Cannon England and show off some nifty moves as he outran the Bulldog defense for a 25-yard touchdown. Jayden once again converted the extra point and we would lead 14-7 at the half.
We would get the ball to start the 3rd quarter and was hoping to put this one away but the Bulldogs defense had other things in mind. We got a couple of penalities and fumbled the snap which would lead to a 4th and long for us. We were unable to convert and the Bulldogs would take over on our 39-yard line. Eric Newell would then waste no time in pulling the Bulldogs even with us as he reeled off a TD of his own. Will Beckham converted the extra point and this one was all tied at 14.
Our offense would then go out and really out together a nice drve to put us ahead for good in this one. Ethan, Jett and Jayden all had nice runs on the drive and Jett would finish the drive off with a 40-yard touchdown scamper. Ethan converted the extra point and we had a 21-14 lead at the end of the 3rd quarter. Our defense would then step up and stop the Bulldogs on their next possession. A couple of good plays from Avery Walker and Nick Hewett would put the Bulldogs in a 4th and long situation. It looked as if Will Beckham had open field, but Avery Walker once again made a great play and would give the ball back to our offense.
I really challenged the offense to put this game away and that's exactly what they did. Ethan would race down the sidelines for a 40-yard run to move the ball to the Bulldog 7-yard line. On the very next play, Connor Brady got around the end and scored another Tiger touchdown. Ethan would then connect with Connor on a short pass to convert the extra point and give us a 28-14 lead with 1:46 left in the game. Our defense would not let the Bulldogs get anything going and this one would come to an end with us notching our 3rd victory of the season 28-14.
The win keeps us in 1st place in the league standings with a 3-0 record. We do not play next Saturday as it is our open week. We will practice on Monday and Thursday at 5:30. See you all then. Great job once again Tigers, we are very proud of you!
NCR Week 3 - Offensive Player of the Week - Ethan Arnold
![]() |
Our offensive player of the week for week 3 of the season is Ethan Arnold. Ethan had a great game on Saturday versus the National Family Bulldogs. He rushed for 120 yards on 6 carries and scored 1 touchdown. Ethan is a real leader of our offense and is like a coach in the huddle. Great job this week Ethan and all season long, we are very proud of you!
NCR Week 3 - Defensive Player of the Week - Caleb Reed
![]() |
Our defenseive player of the week for week 3 of the season is Caleb Reed. Caleb had 4 tackles in the game on Saturday and always seems to be around the play. He has improved so much from last season and has really become a leader for us on the defensive line. He is one of the big reasons our d-line is so improved from last season. Caleb always gives 110% and has a great attitude. Great job Caleb, we are very proud of you.
Tigers edge Steelers 40-32 in a shootout!

This may sound crazy but our defense really bailed us out today. In the world of rinky dink football, if your defense can get a stop or two that's usually all you need to pullout a win. Our offense had a few miscues today but our defense was there to pick us up and get us the ball back. This was a total team win and if you blinked, you may have missed a couple of touchdowns today.
The opening quarter saw both teams go up and down the field with ease. There was a total of 32 points scored in the quarter and neither team could stop the other one. Ethan Arnold and Connor Brady teamed up to lead us to our first touchdown. Jett converted the extra point and the game was tied at 7. Simmons would score once again on their first play from scrimmage but we came right back and did the same. After a holding penalty, Connor Brady rumbled down the sideline for a 70-yard touchdown to tie the game at 13. Simmons would score again right before the end of the 1st quarter to take a 19-13 lead.
Ethan opened up our next drive with a 29 yard scamper and Jett Frazier moved the ball to the Steelers 5-yard line with a 26 yard run of his own. Ethan would then hook up with Connor for a 5-yard touchdown pass to tie the game once again. It didn't stay tied for long as Jett used a great block by Connor to convert the extra point and give us a 20-19 lead.
The Steelers did not stay behind for long, as they broke a 65-yard touchdown run on their second play of the drive to take a 26-20 lead. Our offense would then sputter on our next possession. We missed a couple of blocks on our first two plays of the possession and the result would be us facing a 3rd and 23. A couple more plays of poor blocking by our offense would result in the Steelers getting the ball back with less than a minute left on the clock before the half. Our defense would really step up and make a couple of big time plays for us. Our defensive line would stuff the Steelers on their first play of the drive. The next play, the Steelers would break off a 16-yard run, but Nick Hewett would force them out of bounds with just 10 seconds left on the clock in the quarter. It looked as if they had broke another long TD run but Bryce Caldwell dove and made a shoestring tackle as the Steeler running back neared our 10-yard line. Bryce saved a TD and saved the game for his team. Great play and great hustle by a kid that knows only one speed and that is 110% all the time.
We would get the ball back to open the 3rd quarter and I really challenged the kids to block the way they have been taught and play as hard as they could on every play. They really stepped up to the challenge. Connor, Ethan and Jett had short runs and then Mr. Brady would use a good block by Jayden Brown and reel off a 48-yard touchdown to tie the game at 26. Jett would convert the extra point and give us the lead for good in this one at 27-26. Our defense once again stepped up and forced the Steelers to a 4 and out. Bryce and Nick would once again make a couple of good plays. Chase Tedder, Caleb Reed and Taegan Staggs also blitzed thru the Steeler line sacking the QB and giving the ball back to our offense.
I told the offense it was time to put this game away for good and that's exactly what we would do. We would put together a 6-play 60-yard drive that saw good runs by Jayden and Ethan. The drive would end with Ethan going over from one yard out to extend our lead to 33-26. Jayden got stuffed on the extra point and the lead would remain at 7 as we headed late into the 4th quarter.
Both teams would score late touchdowns to make the final 40-32. Jett added to his yardage total with a 60-yard TD run for us. The win moves us to 4-0 on the season and all alone in 1st place in the league standings. YMA was upset by Webb Energy today so we are a full game ahead of them in the standings. We have two very tough games this week as we play a very good Alford Pirates team on Thursday and then a showdown with the YMA Cowboys on Saturday. See you all at practice on Monday. Go Tigers!
NCR Week 5 - Offensive Player of the Week - Connor Brady
![]() |
Our offensive player of the week for week 5 of the season is Connor Brady. Connor rushed for 144 yards on 4 carries in the game today versus Simmons Steelers. Connor had two rushing touchdowns and caught one pass for a touchdown. Connor also has the key block on most of our running plays and always does a great job paving the way for his fellow running backs to follow him to the endzone. Great job Connor, we are very proud of you!
NCR Week 5 - Defensive Player of the Week - Nick Hewett
![]() |
Our defensive player of the week for week 5 of the season is Nick Hewett. Nick had a couple of big tackles in the game today versus Simmons. Nick is a 1st grader and is playing corner for our team, which is a very tough position for a 1st grader to play. Nick has done a great job all season long and really helped us get the big win today. Great job Nick, we are very proud of you!
