Local Sled dog clubs mourn the passing....
Jeff Johnson, longtime member of the Narragansett Bay Sled Dog Club and its former president, passed away at home on Monday January 8, 2007. Jeff was an enthusiastic member of the club, and raised champion dogs in West Greenwich, RI. Most current members of the club owe a lot to his legacy, and his presence on the trails will sorely be missed. In recent years he was a dedicated Scout troop leader, often bringing his troop for trail help. Rest in Peace.

Phillips Brook Race , a "freight day" for members.
Club members competed in the Phillips Brook Freight Race in Stark New Hampshire under perfect skies. Steve Marsh took the first place in the open division, and did some trail blazing along the way. His son Ethan ran away with the Novice Division, finishing before the timekeeper had made it to the finish line. The freight race is run by the Yankee Malamute Club in the Phillips Brook recreational area. This is the second year of the race and by the looks of the turnout there will be more racing for years to come. For those of you not familiar with this type of race, the sleds are loaded with 40 pounds of dog food for each dog pulling the sled. Fun was had by all!!
CLUB MEMBERS COMPETE IN LACONIA WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS!!
