Mighty Macs Reach the Finals of the Glenbard East Autumnfest!

2009 Autumnfest montage

Coming into the tournament the Mighty Macs were seeded #10 but after some great matches and teamwork the Mighty Macs reached the finals and although they came up short they proved that they are a team to be reckoned with.

The Macs reached the Gold Division after winning both of their pool play matches Friday night against Schaumburg and Waubonsie Valley.  Saturday morning they took on Benet who was the #2 seed and came out on top by scores of 25-23, 25-22.  The Macs advanced to a Semi-Final matchup against downstate powerhouse Normal Community.  It took 3 games to finish them off but in the end it was McAuley advancing to the Finals.  Joliet Catholic proved to be too much to handle after only a 20 minute break between the semi's and the finals.  Joliet cruised in the first game to win 25-7 but the Macs fought hard and never gave up in game 2 but Joliet prevailed by a score of 25-17.

The Macs move on now to the GCAC Conference Championships on Friday night beginning at 5:00pm where they will take on Loyola Academy, Regina Dominican and Queen of Peace.  The top 2 teams advance to Saturdays Semi-Finals beginning at 2:00pm and then the Finals are scheduled for Sunday at Peace.

Go Macs!
