On April 26, 2009, Moreland Little League hosted a spectacular Catching Clinic, put on by Archbishop Mitty High School's legendary Coach Bill Hutton, featuring local standout catchers, Elliot Stewart and Boomer Richer, as well as Mitty's current phenomenal corps of catchers.
The clinic covered a number of techniques, tips and drills, such as: the mental approach; catching vs. receiving; footwork; primary and secondary stance; proper throwing techniques; blocking wild pitches; blocking home plate; backing up first base; controlling your pitcher; and more!
We've included video of many of the techniques, tips and drills which were covered in this unbelievable clinic. The level of instruction in these videos is simply amazing. We hope that you will use these videos to enhance your child's understanding of the game. In addition, these videos should give you a better understanding of the quality of instruction that will be offered in the upcoming Pitcher's Clinic, scheduled for May 31, 2009, as well as the Archbishop Mitty Summer Baseball Camp scheduled for June 22-26, 2009.
Once again, we must thank Coach Hutton, Elliot Stewart, Boomer Richer and all the Archbishop Mitty catchers for providing our kids with this incredible instruction and for helping us create these unbelievable videos. Special thanks to Ken Pyle for filming and producing this series, and to David Roberson for bringing this all together.
