About Moreland Little League

Moreland Little League is a non-profit, all-volunteer, 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization, operating under charter of Little League Baseball, Inc. By providing a safe and fun environment centered around the great game of baseball, Moreland Little League is committed towards developing the qualities of citizenship, discipline, teamwork and physical well-being in the children of our community.

Established in 1959, Moreland Little League is proud to have been an integral part of the local community for the past 50 years! We are as proud of all the smiles and life-lessons that have been produced on our fields, as we are of the success that many of our children have had in the game of Little League baseball. From a 1962 Little League World Series Championship team to a 2007 12 year-old All-Star team that won the Division 2 Championship and competed at San Bernardino in the Western Regional tournament, Moreland Little League continues its tradition of teaching strong baseball skills along with a love for the game.

Moreland Little League Boundary Map

To particpate in the Little League program, players must reside within the League's boundary. Our league boundary is specified by Little League Baseball, Inc. and a map of our boundary can be found here.

Registration Information for the 2010 Season

PLEASE NOTE: Registration is STILL OPEN for the Lower Divisions of Play (T-Ball, A-Ball and AA-Ball)! Registration is CLOSED for both the Major and Minor Divisions of Play.

Moreland Little League is looking forward to another exciting and rewarding baseball season. Please read the following registration information carefully (print if necessary).

  • There is no scheduled walk-in registration. Online registration only.
  • Please email the registrar if there is some reason you cannot register online.

Before You Register

1. Browse our website!

Spend a few moments on our website and get to know Moreland Little League a little better.

2. Verify you live within the League boundaries.

The boundaries are unchanged from last year. Refer to the League boundary map.

3. Verify your child's League age.

Little League uses the cut-off date of April 30, 2010 to determine a child's League age. Refer to the Little League Age Chart.

4. Click the Divisions tab on the menu at left.

Find the Division that best suits the league age and current skill-level of your child(ren). Please note that Moreland Little League requires one year of T-Ball for any first-year participant League age 5 or 6.

Please read the section on TRY-OUTS to familiarize yourself with the process used to create our Major and Minor Division teams.

If there is any question concerning eligibility or in what Division your child(ren) should register or try-out, especially for families new to the league, please contact the Player Agent via email. For returning players you may wish to consult your Manager from last year.

5. Click the Volunteers tab on the menu at left.

Learn more about the exciting Volunteer opportunities available for this upcoming season, and the required commitment we are asking of each Parent or Guardian. Join the Moreland Little League volunteer community and experience for yourself how big a difference you can make!

Fees & Refunds

The Board of Directors has approved the same fee structure as last season. It is the Board's position that this tiered approach best reflects the costs associated with running each division, including the special introductory price for our fantastic new T-ball players!

The Board agreed unanimously to NOT increase the league's registration fees during these tough economic times. In addition, the Board agreed to implement two separate Early Registration discounts to offer additional relief to our membership. The Early Registration discounts are as follows:

  • Any child registered on or before November 30, 2009 will receive $40 in snack shack bucks to be used anytime during the 2010 baseball season! These snack shack bucks will be distributed prior to our Opening Ceremonies.
  • Any child registered between December 1, 2009 and December 31, 2009 will receive $20 in snack shack bucks to be used anytime during the 2010 baseball season! These snack shack bucks will be distributed prior to our Opening Ceremonies.

Please note: These Early Registration discounts do not apply for the T-Ball division, due to the special introductory price already being offered.

Snack Shack bucks can be used to purchase food and beverages at the snack shack and can not be redeemed for cash.

These registration fees will contribute approximately 50% of the funds needed to run our League this year.

We will raise the remaining revenue through the proceeds generated by our Snack Shack and through the generous contributions made by our local community families and businesses.

We hope to engage our membership this year with thoughtful and entertaining voluntary FUNdraisers, and we hope to offer our local business owners some new and exciting sponsorship opportunities.

The special introductory fee of $50 for our T-Ball program is designed to promote the league by encouraging the participation of our youngest players.

The fee differential between the A-Ball/AA-Ball Divisions and the Minor/Major Divisions reflects the additional costs associated with field maintenance, umpires, and uniforms/equipment.

Similarly, the differential between the Minor/Major Divisions and the Jr/Sr Divisions reflects the fact that the Jr/Sr program takes place away from the Moreland Little League Complex, and thus incurs both additional costs and lost revenue opportunities for the Snack Shack.

The Board is confident that we have structured our fees fairly and honestly in light of all factors, including the current economic times. We hope that you will agree that the actual value received by each of our young Little Leaguers is far in excess of these fees.

Fees:

T-Ball $ 50
A-Ball & AA-Ball $ 180
Minors & Majors $ 200
Juniors & Seniors $ 225

** There is a $10 discount for each additional child from the same family.

Refund Policy:

A partial refund will be processed for any child who registers for either the Minor or Major Division (a requirement if your child plans to attend Try-outs), but does not get drafted into either the Minor or Major Division. A $20 refund will be processed immediately following the Draft.

A refund for player withdrawal due to unforeseen circumstances (injury, moving, etc.) will be considered carefully by the Board of Directors on a case-by-case basis.

All refunds will be processed and paid no later than by the end of the 2010 season. All refunds will be net of the $3 processing fee that Moreland Little League is charged for each registration.

Please email the registrar to request a refund or if you have any further questions regarding Moreland Little League's refund policy.

Steps for Online Registration

1. Register your child(ren).

Click the Register Online go! button located at the bottom of this webpage.

You will be directed to our secure third-party Registration service hosted by Active.com. We are happy to partner with Active.com, the only Little League licensed website authorized to collect our registrations and process our credit card transactions.

Active.com is a sports-enthusiast based website that offers significantly more to its members than Registration. Joining their membership is entirely up to you. You are not required to join the Active.com community in order to register for Moreland Little League.

We are offering two separate payment methods this year: Pay By Check and Pay By Credit Card

The Pay By Check option is free of charge, and requires that you bring a registration fee check to the upcoming Verification Night (see step 5).

The Pay By Credit Card option allows you to complete your registration immediately, although the website charges a 3.95% service charge. This fee will be charged to your credit card at time of check-out.

2. Complete the Contribution and Donation section.

Moreland Little League is a non-profit, all-volunteer, 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization.

Our expenses include year-round field maintenance and improvements, equipment and uniforms, insurance and charter fees, clinics and training for our coaches, umpire fees and trophies and pictures for all of our young ballplayers.

We maintain a proud tradition of offering scholarships for any child in our community who wants to play in the Moreland Little League and needs our financial assistance.

We have also started funds to improve our beautiful complex. This year we have designs on building a wheelchair / stroller accessible route throughout the entire complex!

We receive no monetary support from either the Moreland School District or from the City of San Jose. We cover 100% of our costs through registration fees, snack shack sales, and through the generous donations and sponsorships from local community families and businesses, like you!

While there is absolutely no obligation to contribute, any contribution and/or donation you make will be added to your check-out total.

All contributions and/or donations are fully tax deductible and Moreland Little League will provide each donor with a tax receipt.

We thank you in advance for your kind consideration!

3. Register the parent(s) or guardian(s) as volunteers.

To complete the registration process, we ask all parents and guardians to list their choices for the various volunteering roles we are offering this season. Click the Volunteers tab for more information.Little League Baseball, Inc. requires that the League collect both the birthdate and a valid ID from each volunteer.

Once again, we thank you in advance for both your participation and enthusiasm this upcoming season!

4. Complete the registration process.

Please make sure you click the Submit button if you are using the Pay By Check option or the Pay Now button if you are using the Pay By Credit Card option.

You will know that you have completed your registration if you receive a confirmation email. Please print a copy of this confirmation email and bring it to Verification Night (see below).

Important! If you do not receive a confirmation email, then your registration information was not completed and you will not be registered for Moreland Little League. Please make sure to check your spam or bulk mail folders, as the confirmation may be filtered by your email service provider!
