Phase II of McCollom Field Restoration Project Begins (click here to see more)
Phase II was of the field restoration was completed in November 2006. Fences were replaced, field was leveled, fill was dumped and spread along with loam and hydorseed. Today the field looks beautiful but were not done yet. We are ready for Phase II. Our focus will be on the spectators. We plan to level the area behind the back stop and along the third base line. We will be installing drainage to reduce any pooling of water that exists there today. We will look to install top soil a more grass. We hope to plant a row of trees along the third base line. We have a scout project that will build our shed and dugout benches. Finally, we will install the hundreds of bricks purchased by many of you in support of this project.
We are in need of anyone who has a tractor that could help with leveling the fill and top soil. If you have equipment and would be interested in volunteering your time and truck, we could us it!
We will continue to post pictures and communicate status as the project progresses. When complete we plan to have an opening day event to christen the field.
As always, you may contact me for questions, suggestions if you would like to volunteer to help.
Thank you,
Paul Philbrick
