RE: Affiliation with the Torrance Girls Softball League.

Dear Board members,

The South Bay Pride will be a 12& Under ASA registered travel team that will start its inaugural season in the fall of 2001. It will be made up of girls from through out the South Bay and possibly Southern California. The most competitive and dedicated athletes will be solicited to be a part of this team. The Pride will start out with the winter travel ball season in September and play until approximately the first week in December. This time will be used to evaluate players and personnel. The ones that have what it takes will be retained for the Travel ball season, starting in January of 2002. The Pride will then fill in the rest of its roster within the 2002 travel ball season. The ultimate goal of the Pride will be to qualify for and win the 14 & Under ASA Nationals in 2004. As the Pride moves up an age group in 2003 I will be looking for a qualified manager to run a young 12-Under pride team, thus beginning the Pride family and making us a travel ball program rather than just a team.

As the Pride manager and founder I am requesting affiliation with the Torrance Girls Softball League starting in September of 2001. I would like to create this travel ball program right here at home were it all began for me and some of the players that will be part of this program. The Pride would request from the League field and batting cage usage only during the off season and on Sundays during the regular TGSL season. In return for affiliation and field usage the Pride would agree to host the TGSL select team tournament in June of each year and split the proceeds with the TGSL. The Pride would pay its own ASA affiliation fees as well as its own insurance premiums. The Pride would agree to maintain and clean TGSL facilities after each use or stand to loose facilities usage. The Pride would also agree not to recruit any TGSL players during an active TGSL league season.

This program would allow the more competitive girls from our League the opportunity to play for a team at the highest level of competition right here at home. Thus saving the athlete and parents (maybe even you) the long drive to Orange County or were ever to practice and play. We can offer it all right here at Torrance Girls Softball League. Thank you for your consideration of this proposal.

Sincerely,

Lewis R. Currier
