MVP League
New MVP league
The M.V.P. League is a new division of MCLL, specifically designed to allow children with mental and /or physical challenges the full benefit of participating in a team sport tailored to their ability.
The M.V.P. League is derived from the Challenger Division of Little League Baseball, where boys and girls ages 5-18 are offered the opportunity to participate in an organized game of baseball in their community. Playing with the same equipment on the same fields, M.V.P. participants will experience the joys of pulling together as a team, being cheered by the crowd, and earning awards for their efforts and achievements. Click here to go Little League's website and get more information. To register online for the MCLL 2009 MVP Season, please click here.
If you need any additional information, please contact MCLL board member Mike Lundholm at mrl57@comcast.net We will be looking for many volunteers (both children & adults) to make this program a success. We thank you in advance for sharing your love of the game with these very special children.
Become a MVB, Most Valuable Buddy
MVB's are individuals age 12 and older that will help their partners through assisting the player on the field by acting as a guide for blind children, pushing a wheelchair-bound child around the bases, or helping them bat or field the ball as needed. As a MVB, your job is to simply be a friend by interacting with the player, engaging the child in conversation to keep their attention on the game, and encouraging them through lots of praise. The amount of direct assistance each player will received is dependent on their specific needs. A MVB is there to protect the player at all times while allowing them as much freedom as possible to play his/her own game.
