Thought of the Week

"You are either moving forward or falling behind, there is no standing still" -Coach Hopkins
What does this mean to you?  Are you honestly preparing yourself?  Technically, tactically, physically, and mentally?  Are you ready?  Do YOU want to win? What lasting impression do you want to have for the 2009 soccer season?
  • Fall 2009-2010 Registration for MHS Activities ***NEW PROCEDURE *** Go to Try-out Information section for important information required for this fall.
  • High School Preparation Camp  Pegasus Soccer Academy under the direction of Brad Fewell is once again holding a high school preparation camp at Minnetonka Middle School West on July 27th-30th from 12:30-3:00pm each day.  Minnetonka High School Head Girls Varsity Coach Jeff Hopkins and Assistant Varsity Coach Michael O'Reilly will also be instructors at the camp.  The camp design is to help prepare players for the rigors of high school try-outs by concentrating on the technical, tactical, psychological, and fitness aspects that are expected in high school soccer. Positional play including goalkeepers will also be instructed.  This camp in no way will influence the try-out process and is optional to any interested players.  Please scroll down and click on the handout attached at the bottom of this page or go to the soccer links page and download the high school preparation camp file.
  • All High School Soccer Candidates Go to the Handouts section and open them to get great information regarding the off-season conditioning program, injury prevention, helfpul nutrition guides, and pyschological aspects. These documents will help you in your quest to becoming a better soccer. All players should download, print, read, and work on the summer preparation section listed under Fitness/Health/Injury Prevention and read the Players tools section regarding player expectations and mental toughness. The quote listed above from Mia Hamm should be a lasting thought in your efforts. The work you do from now until fall soccer will reflect your try-out and team placement as well as in helping our program excel!!!
  • Captains/Fundraising Our 2009 Captains are responsible for running captain practices and helping organize and secure fundraising efforts. Captains practices are optional practices that give players the chance to prepare for the upcoming season, get to know some of the players, and provide good team bonding for our program. These dates and times are listed on our calendar (click on the menu link to the left and go to August). The captains also are helping to organize some volunteer opportunities to help fundraise for our girls program. They have some bagging help at the Cub on Hwy 7/101, some car washes, and a garage sale later in the summer. Please contact them if you could share some time to help us. Their contact numbers are listed below:

"Far better to dare mighty things, to win glorious triumphs even when checkered by failure, than to rank with those poor spirits who neither enjoy nor suffer much because they live in the gray twilight that knows neither victory nor defeat." -Theodore Roosevelt

Make sure to check the site periodically as it will be updated often. Game Schedules can be found by clicking on the links menu and going to the Classic Lake Conference link to find the most updated schedules or go directly to www.classiclake.org This is the most accurate and updated schedules for all team levels.

The coaching staff is eagarly anticipating the upcoming season. We anticipate that each level will be very strong and in order to make the level that you feel you belong you will need to put in the work to belong. Do all that you can to prepare, to compete, and to challenge yourself to being the best you can be. We have a lot of work to do to get us to the level we want to be at.

Warmest regards,
Coach Hopkins and Staff
