2011 Nor Cal Gold Cup State Champions
On Sunday, May 1, 2011
the FC Milpitas MXG 96 team won the Gold Division of the NorCal State Cup
Championship held in Turlock, CA. The final score was 2-0 against the COSC-S
Odyssey South G96 Red. The team’s head coach is Jim Marte. The assistant
coaches are Tommy Bravo, Gonzo Gonzalez and Steve Latigue. The team is managed
by Julie Hilty.
This win was the culmination of seven games played over an eight month period.
The MXG 96 finished strong with wins over higher ranked teams during the course
of three weekends in Turlock. The semifinal game was especially exciting, with
the score tied at 1-1 after two overtimes. The win was decided by penalty kicks
with the close margin of 5-4, advancing the MXG 96 to the championship match as
the underdog. The COSC-S Odyssey South G96 Red team won their semifinal match
6-1, and was confident entering the final game. The MXG 96 scored 2 goals in
the first half and shut out the opposing team. Manager Julie Hilty stated, “As
you know, defense wins championships! The Odyssey had a great offense, but we
shut them down.”
The MXG 96 will now move on at the end of June to compete in the next level of
the tournament. They will play in the National Cup X Regional Tournament,
sponsored by US Club Soccer. The event is held in Chino, California. Winners of
the Regional Tournament proceed to Idaho to compete for the National Title.

FC Milpitas MXG 96 take 2nd Place
At the Santa Clara Sporting 2011 Girls Invitational Tournament
The Milpitas Youth Soccer Club's FC Milpitas MXG96 competed in the Santa Clara Sporting 2011 Girls Invitational (SGI) Tournament this Memorial Day weekend. On Saturday afternoon, MXG96 started the tournament off with a 2-0 win. Defeating a very tough team from Davis, Calif., Davis Legacy (Heat) SC, they followed up their morning game with a rare evening game as they won 1-0 against the Dynamos of Walnut Creek SC.
On Sunday morning the girls lost 4-1 to a very tough and talented team, Santa Rosa United Blizzard. Still feeling the sting from the loss in the morning, the girls bounced back and played to a 2-2 tie against the San Jose Santos, earning a spot in the finals on Monday.
The girls had their work cut out for them as they faced the team that beat them the previous day, SRU Blizzard. The SRU Blizzard proved to be the better team in the tournament as they defeated MXG96 2-o in the finals. The FC Milpitas MXG 96 performance in the SGI tournament moved them up to number 25 in the rankings for U14 in Northern California.
FC Milpitas United 00 are D2 Cup Gold U10 Boys Champions, played on November 20-21. The United played their games in Los Gatos and completed the tournament with a 2-1 victory over the Los Gatos Jaguars in the final.

FC Milpitas Platanitos 99 are D2 Cup Gold U11 Boys Champions, played on November 20-21. The Platanitos completed the tournament, defeating a tough Sunnyvale Scorpions team 2-1 in the final.

District Cup Winners, FCM Azteca United 97
FC Milpitas Azteca United 97 are D2 Cup Bronze B U13 Boys Champions, defeating a tough SSJ Jayhawks team in the final, 4-3. The tourney spanned 2 days, November 20-21 at Russell Middle School in Milpitas. The Azteca United finished the tournament 3-0-1, winning the championship on penalty kicks in front a large home field crowd.
Special recognition and thanks to the Azteca United parent volunteers who were great D2 Cup hosts the entire weekend!

District Cup Winners, FCM Revolution
FC Milpitas Revolution 95 are D2 Cup Bronze C U15 Boys Champions, defeating Mid-County YC Revolution in the final, 4-2. The Revolution had played the same team on Saturday and lost 1-3 so it was a great win by the FC Milpitas Revolution in the final
