LADY TROJANS BLAST GERMANTOWN RED DEVILS
Heidi hitting

The Millington Lady Trojans were back in action Wednesday on a cold, blustery day at Biloxi field.  Senior southpaw Megan Wingate picked up her third win of the season as the Lady Trojans improved to 3-0.  Three Millington errors along with four walks led to early Germantown runs, but the Lady Trojans quickly gained control by pounding out 9 hits to come away with a 17-2 victory.

Jenna Crain’s two out run scoring double was the key blow in a 6 run second inning and Melissa McGovern’s blast off the left field fence plated 3 runs in the third inning to put the game out of reach. Second baseman Elizabeth Findley slapped 2 infield singles and catcher Heidi Molder continued her hot streak with 2 hits and 2 RBI.

The Lady Trojans play again Monday, March 16th, against area rival Munford. Game times are JV 5:00 and varsity 7:00 at Munford Middle School field.

Senior third baseman Jana Mergel had 2 hits and 2 RBI to contribute to the shut out.  Senior outfielder Tyeisha Sanders doubled in her high school debut, driving in 2 runs to end the game in the 4th inning.

Megan Wingate led the Trojans with 2 hits and 5 RBI in the nightcap. Elizabeth Findley had 2 hits and Melissa McGovern scored 3 runs in the romp of the Lady Pharaohs.  Freshmen pitchers, April Lewis and Tori Davis were impressive in their high school debuts, each pitching scoreless innings.
