CHALLENGER LEAGUE 2010

Mill Valley Little League and District 3

For 2010, Mill Valley Little League is again proud to offer the Challenger League program for youth with special needs.

The Challenger league is a division of little league and is a unique opportunity for children who have developmental disabilities to participate in Little League baseball.  This league is open to any youth age 5-18 who resides in Marin County.  The Challenger players wear the same uniforms & safety equipments as other Little League players. Teams are supported by coaches and by a buddy system in which young, non disabled volunteers assist Challenger players when needed at bat and in the field. Everybody scores, and everybody wins.

Listed are a few general facts about the league

  • Teams are set up according to abilities, rather than age, and can include as many as 15-20 players, who can participate in one of three levels: Tee-Ball, Coach-Pitch or Player Pitch.
  • Games will last an hour and there will be optional practices one day during the week.
  • There will be no cost for Challenger players participating
  • Players will be provided with the same uniforms (Caps and Shirts) as other Little League players.
  • We will need volunteer buddies, coaches to assist players & financial sponsors

We are very fortunate to have Janet Miller (415-380-0631 / janetm@ri-net.com ) as our Challenger Division Commissioner, please contact her with any questions.
