I coached a U12 team in Reading this year, I have at least three girls that want to play this summer, but our Town team is full. Any teams close to Reading looking to build up their squad? All decent hitters, 1 ok pitcher, good catcher/ 1st base, the other 2 good 3rd and short

I'm looking for information on the Reading 10A and 10B entry. Who is the coach or contact? My daughter is looking to play and I'm willing to help out with the coaching responsibilities.

Hi,

I am 18 years old and am looking for a team to play on this summer. I just finished my first year of college (I did not play for my school) but used to play for my high school's varsity team, but my town does not currently have a team for my age group.

I typically play left field, but am flexible with positions.

Let me know if you need a player!

Kathleen Schipelliti

My daughter is looking for a team to play on this summer. She is 9 turning 10 in November and can play all positions, but, would like to concentrate on pitching.

North Andover did not have enough girls to field a 10U team this year

Spread the Word: Catcher Instruction

A player once said to me, "There's a reason why home plate is pointed toward the catcher." When I asked her why, she enthusiastically replied, "Because catchers are the most important position on the field!"

Hi all,

My name is Johanna "Jo" Clair and I am the founder of Protect the Plate. I graduated from Tufts University in May 2014, where I was the starting catcher on the softball team for four years. During my career, my team won two NCAA Division III Softball National Championships, and I was named an All-American three times. I am currently one of the assistant coaches at Tufts.

Upon graduation, a friend suggested that I give private lessons in my spare time as a way to stay connected to the game. One catcher turned into two catchers and two catchers turned into small group lessons. As I began to lead group lessons and clinics, I realized that I had a passion for catcher instruction and development. There is no greater feeling than the "ah-ha" moment in a girl's face when she actually begins to get it. That feeling alone is more satisfying to me than all of the success that I saw as a player throughout my years. I quickly realized that as a coach, I am not only teaching skills to be used behind the plate, but I am also in a position to inspire girls to chase their dreams off the field.

Recently, I have decided to formalize all of my instruction by creating a website: www.protectingtheplate.com. Check it out to learn more about me and what I will be offering! Under the 'Boot Camps' tab, you will find all of the "classes" that I have organized thus far. All instruction will be in a small group setting (max. 6 players) separated by age group. Catchers will learn the fundamentals of framing, blocking, throwing, and communication through short, intense station work that will create a fun and competitive environment. The registration link is included on the page as well.

If you any questions, you can e-mail me at Johanna.Clair@gmail.com. Spread the word to all catchers about Protect the Plate.

Thanks!
Jo

My daughter, Angela, is looking for a place to play this summer. She is a High School varsity player who mostly plays catcher and outfield but could really play any position.

Feel free to email me if you are looking for players.
