2012/13 Try Out Information and Registration

Team based in South Bend, IN, near MI border, with mostly IN & MI players, but also has hard-working players from other states. We have had players from as far East as Pennsylvainia and as far south as Texas. Cruisers will be managed again by Pete Gillis, and coached by Richard Burton, Russ Johnson, Angela Gillis(former Saint Mary's College Player, Maria Gillis(former Indiana University Player) Team formed in 2006 by Pete Gillis(current Manager) and Meagan Ruthrauff (co-founder, former Notre Dame Player and retired coach). Team has attended many exposure tournaments. HOMER HAWKS (Chicago), RISING STARS (FL), ORLAND PARK SPARKS SUMMER SHOWCASE(Chicago), and OC BATBUSTERS SURF CITY (CA), BOULDER INDEPENDENCE DAY (Colorado), PENNSBURY ANNUAL INVITATIONAL TOURNAMENT Lower Makefield Township, Pennsylvania, SURF CITY, Huntington Beach, Ca., TEAM NEW JERSEY FALL CLASSIC, Edison, NJ, TNT SUMMER SHOWCASE, Quakertown, Pennsylvania, ORLAND PARK SPARKS FALL PUMPKIN FEST, Elgin, Illinois,(Chicago) and Gold Sector and Regional Qualifiers. We have also attended Ball State University Showcase(Team camp), Centra Michigan Showcase(Team Camp) and Indiana University Showcase(Team Camp). This year all outgoing seniors received commitments. Looking mainly for 2016 through 2013 players in a variety of positions for this year, but will consider others ages as well. All those trying out are expected to be prompt. Arrive before 1:00pm. Sign in at the Registration Table. If you have already completed the Registration Form, bring it along, unless you already e-mailed or faxed it to us, and it is our preference that we have received it in advance. There will be blank Registration Forms available if you have not yet completed the form. Please also bring your medical consent signed by your parent(s) if they are not attending with you, this is available below under "handouts".
There are a few who have notified us of being unable to attend, either due to other prior commitments, or due to distance in traveling, and we have stated we will try to accomodate this as long as we know this. Those who have called with this difficulty have been told that they may have private tryouts, or may be expected to stay longer or come early to incorporate additional drills and evaluations. We will start with introductions of the staff and expectations of our players and this team. You will then warm-up, and rotate with your assigned group through the manager and coaches, and any others assisting with drills, for evaluation. Drills will focus on both defense and hitting. In the event of rain, unless it is lightening, we will still be having try-outs outdoors, but reserve the right to extend the ending time if we need to adjust the schedule due to rain. Bring your own mit, catcher's gear if you use your own, your own helmet if you use your own, and your own bat(s) if you prefer your own. Bring your own refreshments. There will not be an open concession stand.

Take the Notre Dame/South Bend exit (exit 77) Saint Mary's College is located 2 miles north of downtown South Bend, IN
For directions to Twin Branch, click on these links further below. Be there before 1 to stretch and complete any necessary paperwork. If you are coming in on the Indiana Toll Road (80-90), take exit 83, go south (left) on this road which is a newer road called Capital, then at Lincolnway (just after you cross over river) turn left/east. Then stay on this until Vistula but at this point also look at the links below to assist you for mapping it. If you are coming from the south, you take 31/33 north almost to South Bend, then take the 31/33 bypass east toward Elkhart, but follow the links below for exact directions, you will exit at Capital Avenue, but not sure if it is called Capital Avenue on the exit sign.
