Saturday, September 12, 2009 - What a wonderful way to begin the 2008 Football and Cheer Season!  In true Metropolitan Wolverines fashion our 8u, 10u, and 14u football teams were victorious over the PG Stags teams. Unfortunately the 12u lost in double overtime.  

The final scores for the Sept. 12th games against the PG Stags were:  

 ·         8 &Under -   Metropolitan Wolverines 21/ PG Stags -   7  

·         10 &Under - Metropolitan Wolverines 20 / PG Stags - 0  

·         12 &Under - Metropolitan Wolverines 20/ PG Stags - 27 

·         14 &Under - Metropolitan Wolverines 13 / PG Stags - 0

The PG Stages home field was buzzing with family members and volunteers. The game day weather was crisp, and cool a perfect day for football. The Metropolitan Wolverines Cheer Squad cheered enthusiastically from early morning until late in the afternoon.  As always, the Wolverine Parents, coaching staff, volunteers, and family members were on hand to applaud every play. 

On Saturday, September 19th the Metropolitan Wolverine’s face the Ft. Washington Stallions.  The games will be held on the Metropolitan Wolverines' home field located at Roosevelt High School 4301 13^th Street, NW Washington DC.   Please check the the Wolvernies' Calendar for times and locations. Be sure to purchase and wear your Metropolitan Wolverines Gear; bring noise makers, and plenty of family members.

 9 weeks of Football?  Can you believe it?  The Metropolitan Wolverines fielded five hard hitting and insanely competitive football teams.  From our littlest warriors to our full sized titans, the Metropolitan Wolverines proved themselves to be a force of nature.   As anticipated, every single Metropolitan Wolverines’ team made it to the 2008 PVAAU playoffs.  The PVAAU playoffs were held on November 8, 2008.  The Wolverines coaching staff was focused and the players were intense.  The Wolverines Cheers squad came prepared to spend the entire day rooting for our boys.   Sadly, the Wolverines 6u, 12u, and 14u post season hopes ended abruptly with losses to the  6u Ft. Washington Stallions, the 12u and 14u Takoma Park Rams.  It is important to thank the 6u, 12u, and 14u Wolverines players, parents, coaches, and volunteers for an outstanding and successful season.  The boys played hard and had fun.  We are proud of all of them. 

As always the Wolverines family has a reason to celebrate.  The Metropolitan Wolverines 8u squad went undefeated in the regular season ending their amazing run with a perfect 9 – 0 record.   The Metropolitan Wolverines 8u Squad is not alone in its post season success.  With a 8 – 1 record the Metropolitan Wolverines’ 10u squad will face the Kingman Green Machine in the PVAUU 10u Championship game.  It appears that the PVAAU Championship games will be held at Northwestern High School - 7000 Adelphi Road Hyattsville, MD 20782.  The Wolverines website will be updated as the more information is made available.  

Congratulations Metropolitan Wolverines Family, you must be proud of your players and of yourself.   The scores and regular season records follow:
