2010 Presidents Cup Finalists
The Metro FC Rapids 92 team became the 2010 Presidents Cup finalists after a heartbreaking loss in the finals to Ohio Elite Gold on penalty kicks. Playing majority of the game with only 11 players, the girls found themselves in a "dog fight" ending in a 0-0 tie after 90 minutes of regulation play and 2-15 minute overtimes. It was a hard fought game by both teams that unfortunately had to be decided by PKs. Getting to the finals was no easy task either. Playing with only 10 players (and even 9 at times with injuries), the girls came back from a 0-2 deficit to defeat Crew Jr. Gold II 3-2 in the semi-finals just one day earlier. For a team that has been plagued by injuries this year (loosing 4 players to season ending knee injuries amongst other medical issues), the Rapids fought hard and played tough all tournament. Congratuations ladies on a job well done!

Congratulations to the U16 Girls Rapids as they recently won the United 1996 Invitational Cup in Louisville, Kentucky. The team played great defensively and defeated Evansville Elite 2-1, Cincinnati United Arsenal 6-1, and tied the host United 1996 International 0-0. The team is coached by University of Dayton Women's Assistant Sergio Gonzalez and Megan Cox.
The U15 Boys Rapids lost in the finals on penalty kicks. The team won their group by defeating Metro Stars 2-1, Sky FC 3-0, and Classics Hammer Elite 1-0. In the finals, the Rapids failed to convert on numerous chances and ended up losing in the PK shootout to United 1996. The team is coached by Tony Saliba and University of Dayton Men's Assistant Alex Yi.

YOU KNOW YOU ARE A METRO FC RAPIDS PARENT IF...
|
...You have never met a competent Center Ref in your life.
...Your daughter takes a bloody wallop on the nose, and your first thought is that she needs to quit crying or be subbed because we're running out of time in the game.
...You know where every elementary school, jr. high, high school, college and park with a soccer field is in the Miami Valley and you know where the closest Starbucks, bagel shop and Subway is to each of those fields.
...You've forgotten where you go to church.
...Your daughter's "good shoes" are her newest soccer cleats.
...You are happy to spend $140 on soccer cleats, but are appalled when the materials for your daughter's science fair project cost $45.
...The girls on your team are 'feisty', while the girls on the opposing team are 'dirty'.
...The mats on your car's rear floor are never free of dried grass and black turf pebbles.
...You have a strict rule about "no removing shin guards or cleats inside of the car".....Phew
...You look forward to Monday so that you can go back to work and relax.
...You have not celebrated your anniversary for 3 years because it always falls on a practice or game day.
...You own a 2-year-old SUV with 182,000 original miles.
...On the rare weekend when your daughter does not have a game you look for something soccer related to do like going to the games of your friend's children.
...You receive at least three copies of the "Eurosport" catalogue in the mail each week.
...When someone asks you how old your daughter is, you respond, "She's U18"
...You drive home from the game complaining bitterly about the condition of the field and its adverse effect on your daughter's game only to pull into your driveway and have your spouse point out the 14 inch high grass has not been mowed in 2 weeks
