Medford National Little League: Field Maintenance

Field Clean-Up
Cleanup
Come to the fields on Saturday September  8th, 9 a.m. - noon, for the end of the summer field maintenance work party.  Work what time is convenient for you.  The fields need removal of "Noxious Weeds".  We have puncture vine (goatheads) and yellow starthistle on our property.  Each  plant can produce up to 4,000 seeds and they are flowering now, perfect time for removal.  The more seeds we can stop from spreading the easier next spring will be.  Bring drinking water, shovel or hoe, and work gloves (label your gear).  We will use the blue garbage cans for yard waste.  No garbage goes into the yard waste containers.

100% Volunteer Maintenance
Cleanup

MNLL is a non-profit league supporting 12 fields on 35 acres without municipal assistance. Each year we rely exclusively on volunteers to maintain the fields and run the league.  We are currently working on several projects including painting projects.

For those of who are interested and want to help out in cleaning up the fields, but are unable to make the work dates, we have a few items that anyone can work on. Please feel free to come out anytime.
  •  Clean dugouts.
  •  Pick-up trash.
  •  If you have other skills or ideas that need to be accomplished please feel free to contact us.  If you want to be added to the maintenance e-mail list click on contact us.

Field Prep Before and After Game

Prior to game managers must assure safe play conditions.  Walk the field looking for holes, rocks, etc.  See handout for striping Major and Minor fields.  NEVER drag the pitchers mound; hand rake the pitchers mound and batters boxes (Special granite/clay/dirt mix in those areas).

After the game make sure all equipment is put away and locked up.  Each team is responsible for cleaning their dugout and bleacher area.  Have the whole team help with clean-up.
