Welome to the McQueen High School Wrestling teams web page. This season continues our quest to achieve the goals and traditions established at McQueen High School. The team goals can be reached through hard work, dedication and support from family members and fans. The goals are to Win the High Desert Regular season Division, Win the Northern Nevada Zone Championship and the State Championship.

The 2008-09 season will require that some wrestlers step into some tough shoes. It will be hard to lose Chris “Riley” Frazier’s leadership and warm-up and the record number of wins and pins from last year. Serve our country well Riley we're proud of you. Eddie Sorgani’s toughness though the last two seasons and the great leadership you have shown for the last 3 years. Finally, we'll miss Jon-Kyle Shutz’s hard work ethic in the practice room, and constant growth for the last four years. Make us proud at Lassen JK and keep wrestling hard.

This summer we have had a number of wrestlers put some work in. Starting in the spring Joseph and 8^th grader James DeLeon, Ed and Andrew Sullivan, Jared Pearce, and Jordan Lee wrestled in some local and out of state tournaments while working out 3 or more times a week. This summer was kicked off with the first summer of Lancer Wrestling Club working with younger kids to feed in to the Northwest Knights. Many of the knights did well at regionals in Idaho, Andrew Berreyesa won both Greco and freestyle while placing 4^th in folkstyle. Terry Mason placed 4^th in freestyle and 5^th in Greco and folkstyle. Jacob Otuafi placed 6^th in folkstyle and Jacob Sorenson placed 6^th in Greco. The Sullivan’s, Deleon’s, and Scott Downie all went to the Ponderosa Duals and got 9 matches in. Ed Sullivan wrestled for Team Nevada at the Idaho Duals going 7-3 while wrestling Greco and freestyle. Joseph and Andrew wrestled at the summer match duals getting between 7-12 matches. The Deleon’s, Ed, Jordan, and Spencer Hiett are all going to one of the 5 sessions of the Azevedo Camp. There are a number of us going to Camp of Champs the first week of August at Elsinore High School. Others that have put some time in since the end of last season Darrin Gooch, Mark Reynolds, Patrick McCarthy, Mike Rea, Kevin Rosario, and Eddie Rodriguez. We have done some good work but have a lot more work to do to be the champions we are working toward. To all of those playing a fall sport good luck and we will see you for fundraising and at the end of your season. All others we will start pre-season as soon as we are able.
