Week 1
On Saturday, June 13, Mass Destruction kicked off their 2009 season at the Tradition Season Opener ASA tournament in Trumble, CT. In a rain shortened tournament the team played well in seeding play going 2 - 0 defeating the Mirage 2-0 and Tradition South by a score of 7-3 to finish with a number 2 seed. Then on elimination day, after several rain delays, the team again faced the Tradition South. Unfortunately Mass D fell behind early and wasn’t able to rally back losing by a score of 11-3.
Week 2
The weekend of June 19 – 21 saw Mass D celebrating Father’s Day (after all, where would a father rather be?) at the NSA Father’s Day Bash in Leominster, MA. Again, the weather gave us no breaks and Saturday was shortened to 2 games. The team started a bit slowly and despite getting stronger as the game went on lost a tough game to Mass Commotion 4-1. Mass D won the second game of the day against Mass Intensity behind strong pitching and solid defense by a score of 1-0.
On Sunday, with the skies threatening and our bats heating up, Mass D started off strong defeating the Fury 8-0 in a run-rule shortened game in 6 innings. The second game featured a rematch of Saturday’s games vs. Mass Commotion. This outstanding softball game demonstrated fine pitching, tough defense, and clutch hitting by both teams. Mass Commotion scored first with a run in the bottom of the 3rd, but Mass D answered with 2 in the top of the 4th. The score remained locked 2-1 until Mass D added a crucial insurance run in the top of the 7th behind a base hit followed by an RBI double. Not giving up easily Mass Commotion scored 1 in the top of the 7th and had a runner on 3rd with 1 out. But Mass D held on to get the last 2 outs stranding the runner on 3rd to earn a 3-2 victory!
The weather finally took its toll and the tournament was ended early. By virtue of their standing Mass Destruction was awarded 2nd place, Runners Up trophies! CONGRATULATIONS - - - GO MASS DESTRUCTION!!!!
This past year we sent off 6 Girls to college of there choice to play softabll...

Mass Destruction is in its 9th Year at the 18U level. Our Goal as a Team is to help each Girl be there best while getting them College exposure and reading themselves for there next level of play. We encourage and teach the girls about being positive through the good and bad while having fun playing the game they love..... Over the last 8 years we have complied a record of 237-73-18. In last 5 years at the 18U level we won the N.S.A. Championship (twice), the ASA State championship once and finished 9th at The Pony Nationals (twice) and 16th the other year out in North Carolina. Last year (2007) we won 2 Tourney's, played in the and ASA states(3rd), 3 College Showcases as well as Travelling to the WFC World Series in Myrtle Beach and finishing 5th.
