The Maryland Lady Comets (MLC) was founded in January of 2004 by Kevin Speaks (Program Director and 1993 Head Coach), Michael Dukes (1992 Head Coach) and Gordon Outlaw (1992 Asst. Coach). The team was formed with a group of girls born in 1992 from Baltimore, Maryland. In the Fall of 2005, The Organization added a second team with girls born 1993. And in the Fall of 2006, yet another age group (1995) was added to the Lady Comets Organization. In 2007, the goal is to add a fourth team (1994).   The Lady Comets are a non-profit organization that travel and compete in various tournaments along the East Coast. The MLC Teams have competed in New York, Pennsylvania, Virginia and Washington D.C. as well as throughout Maryland. The organization has  represented the Maryland District in AAU National Championships in Division I and Division II in Tennessee, Ohio, Kansas and Florida.
