Mission Statement: The Maryland Lady Comets Program is a spiritually based girls youth basketball program, that teaches the fundamentals and disciplines of basketball. We stress the importance of academics and are a life skills teaching, family oriented and fun program that stands by PROVERBS 22:6. "Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it."

Greetings and GOD Bless Coaches and other Volunteers. To better assure the well being of our Young Ladies, the Maryland Lady Comets now require all Coaches to have background checks thru Protect Youth Sports or thru the NCAA. All Coaches should click on the link to start the process. There is a $14.00 fee. Our older age groups (14, 15u & 16u) Coaches may want to go thru NCAA, due to having to have to be NCAA certified in NCAA sanctioned events. That cost is $40.00 for two years. Everyone who will coach for this program MUST be certified thru one or the other starting this September 2011. Thanks so much and GOD Bless.

The Lady Comets are looking for girls to round out our newly formed 4th grade team. Girls must be born January 1st, 2002 or later. The Lady Comets 14 & under (9th Graders or girls born Jan.1st, 1997 or later) are conducting Tryouts this Saturday, March 3rd from 4pm to 6pm at the Randallstown Community Center (located at 3505 Resource Drive, Randallstown, Md 21133. Also this Sunday, March 4th from 3pm to 5pm at Old Court Middle School (located at 4627 Old Court Road, Baltimore, Md 21208 - Gym entrance is in the back of the building). MLC Alumni Ms.Shatyra Hawkes has another outstanding game as her and her Xavier University teammates take down Cincinnati 69 to 60. Tyra finished with 19pts, 5rbs & 5 assts.

Congratulations to our 14u, 15u & 16u Ladies for competing in the Penn State Invitationals over the last 4 days. Our 15u Ladies finished in 5th place out of 60 teams in the Global Division. Our 14u Ladies finished 2nd in the North pool and our 16u Ladies finished 30th out of 60 teams in the Pacific Division. Job well done to all the Ladies, Coaches and thanks to all the Parents for there support. GO......COMETS!!!!!!!!

Congratulations to Coach Bryan Carter and the 10u girls as they finish in 2nd place in pool play. On yesterday they were defeated by a score of 35 to 32 to the Staten Island Diamonds. Today they bounced back and won 2 games first knocking off the Louisiana Lady Hornets by a score of 44 to 27 and then taking down the house team the Boo Williams Norfolk Express 35 to 29. Tomorrow they take on the East Lady Chargers from Kentucky in bracket play. Job well done. Go.....Comets!!!!!!

Congratulations to two MLC Alumnis. Ms.Shatyra Hawkes (MLC 92) and her University of Xavier team beat South Dakota State University 72 to 56 to advance to the 2nd round of the NCAA Tournament against Louisville tomorrow night. Ms.Briana Hutchen and her University of Rutgers team defeated Louisiana Tech University by a score of 76 to 51 and advanced to the 2nd round against Texas A&M tomorrow night. Six Lady Comet Ballers participated last Friday in the Baltimore City vs Baltimore County 2011 Girls High School All Star basketball game at Lake Clifton High School. Baltimore County All Star representative was Ms.Ronje James (MLC 93) and for the City All Stars the placed five ballers: Ms.Brielle Ward, Ms.Imani Stokes, Ms.Tenicia Spence, Ms.Taylor Carter and Ms.Rayia McKnight (all MLC 93 Ballers).

The Maryland Lady Comets Family is proud to acknowledge MLC 95 Baller Ms.A'Lexus Harrison for being selected as this week's Fox 45 "Player of the Week". A'Lexus plays for Digital Harbor High and will play in the Maryland 2A class semi-finals on Friday at UMBC for a chance at the state title. Congratulations Ms.Tenicia Spence and Ms.Brielle Ward for being selected to participate in the McDonald's "Roundball Classic" All-Star Showcase. The young Ladies will travel to Hagerstown Community College on Sunday, February 13th for Media Day. They will participate in a photo shoot and have the opportunity to shoot hoops with children who are recovering from cancer. The actual game will be played in March.
