TRAVEL BASKETBALL OVERVIEW
Marlton WARRIORS Basketball Travel Program
General Travel Team Information
Travel basketball is very competitive. The process for selecting players is competitive, and involves independent evaluators who rate the candidates based on various individual skill, and team play criteria. Tryouts will begin in October.
Once teams are formed, travel coaches have relatively broad discretion with respect to how they distribute minutes among their players. Practices are mandatory, not optional. Players not attending practices should not anticipate playing time in games and could be subject to dismissal from the team.
The Marlton Travel Teams play in the South Jersey Basketball League (www.eteamz.com/sjbl), and generally travel less than an hour for away games.
Marlton Boys Basketball has sponsored 8 boys travel teams the last couple of years(One 4th grade team, two 5th grade teams, two 6th grade teams, one 7th grade team, one 8th grade team, and one combined 7th/8th grade team). The number of teams sponsored by Marlton Boys basketball will be dependent on the number of candidates that tryout for the teams and their skill level.
Candidates must register as an in-town player before they can try out for a travel team. A player is not considered to be registered until payment is received.
Good Sportmanship is essential. Coaches, players and parents must maintain good sportsmanship at all basketball events. If an issue does arise at a game, it needs to be addressed immediately with the Travel Coordinator for Marlton Boys Basketball.
An additional fee of approximately $200.00 will be required if a player makes the travel team to cover expenses (uniform costs, game referee, equipment, insurance etc.).
