CDL EPL 4v4 Indoor...Finals On March 29th
March Madness...The CDL EPL Final league standings: What a great day the Man U boys had at the u9/10 March Madness Tournament at the Dome on Wed 18th...the boys made it to the Final losing 1-0 to u10 Middlesex United...Congrats to both teams on an exciting final & tournament play, which was sponsored by FC London, the new PDL team..
In Group B prelims, the Man U boys finished 2nd with 10pts...3 wins & 1 tie...beating u9 London United 2-1, u9 Woodstock 2-0, u10 GC Firebirds 1-0 while tying u10 MU 1-1
In the semis, with a big crowd watching, vs u10 Nor'West Falcons, down 1-0 early, the Man U boys kept up the pressure tying it up on a late goal, sending the game to penalty kicks...Alex I, Philip M & Anton K netted PK goals as the boys edged the Falcons 3-2 to take the semi match & advance to the final vs MU, who had beaten London City 2-0 in the other x-over semi...
In the 5pm final, given the challenge, coach Steve went with a defensive strategy, a 3-2-1 formation (vs 2-3-1 attacking), to take on MU to hopefully force PK's...MU with the talented additions controlled most of the game, as expected, keeping the Man U boys back on their heels...but Tristan L, Alex & Matt M, keeper Ryan M & the rest of the boys did an amazing job holding off the MU charge, witt the game still 0-0 with only 2 mins left, coach Steve was thinking the boys might just do it, pull it off...but hen off a MU kick in with a ~1:20 min to go, MU popped a beauty, top corner, to take the final...& the title Madness Champs!!
Coach Steve was extremely proud of the gusty effort, performance all the boys gave, in a long day at the Dome, up against the older u10 boys...making it to the final, receiving a FC London Madness Medal
Congrats to the Man U boys:
Tristan, Matt, Alex, Ben L, Ben O, Joe, Kaden, Dylan, Spencer, Anton, Philip & Ryan...
Thanks to assistant coaches; Simon, David & Derek for helping out...& to all the parents for your support/positive spirit during the long day at the Dome...
Cheers,

Scrooge Tournament...Man U boys showed the huge crowd at the Dome, that they will be a team to reckon with in the future u9, as Man U went 1-2-1, 5pts in the u10 Scrooge tournament on Dec 23rd...in the 1st game, Man U lost a close one to LCity 1-0, just missing on a number of chances to tie the game...the boys then went on to tie GC Fireballs 0-0, & LUnited 1-1, then beat Woodstock 5-0 in the final game, to close out the preliminary round...while not advancing to the semis, coach Steve was very impressed/proud of the boys gutsy effort(s) against the teams in our group...well done Man U!!!...Strathroy beat LUnited 2-0 in the final

CDL Blue u8 Tillsonburg tournament Finalists...
The club entered 2 CDL teams into the u8 Tillsonburg tournament on July 12th....great complex/fields, perfect conditions for soccer as CDL Blue gave an amazing effort in their run to the cup final, in the preliminary round, Blue lost a close one to Brantford A 3-2, beat Oakridge 7-0, edged Lambeth in a triller 4-3 to take the wildcard spot & in the semis were victors 7-1 over a good u7 team from Montreal...in the final, their 5th game of the day, the boys fell short as they simply 'ran out of gas' in the 2nd half against a very good team from Windsor...well done Blue!!, congrats to Windsor (in the pic above with Blue)
CDL White lost a close game 2-1 to the eventual tournament champs, Windsor right out of the gate, then beat Brantford B 12-1, in the 3rd game, in a sudden rain storm, White were all over MYSL but just couldn't finish on the numerous chances they had to put the game away, only to lose 3-2 & not advance...well done White!!
The great performance at Tillsonburg, as in Oakridge Faith & at MU tournament this summer...it shows how strong & talented the club's CDL program has become in 2008...thanks to Mark, Lou & Vit for co-coaching this past weekend & to the parents for your continued support...
The Man U boys are MU u8 tournament Champs!!...
The North London Man U team, 2000 birth year, went undefeated in their run to capture the MU u8 crown...the first championship title for the newly formed Man U team which included two 6 year olds as the team played some pretty good soccer in extreme heat in Strathroy...well done boys!!

Oak Faith tournament...a great success!!
CDL Blue then had to play Oakridge Arrows (from our CDL league) in the quarters & edged them 2-1 advancing to the semis against 1st place Lambeth Lancers while CDL White were victors over Tillsonburg in their semi to advance to the championship final...so with a split squad of 2 CDL teams which included Ben (02) & a number of boys born in 2001...could CDL Blue, up against 1st place Lambeth make it an all NL final...in a back & forth defensive game, the game ended 0-0...with penalty kicks (PK's) deciding this one...in Lambeth's favour
The final between CDL White & Lambeth was also a back & forth game with chances by both teams to take the victory/championship in regulation time...it ended 1-1, the same result after a 5 min OT...down to penalty kicks again...with Lambeth edging CDL White to take the crown...congrats to Lambeth on the win!!
Coach Steve was very impressed with the 2 CDL teams...the performance of the underage players & the overall effort & passion for the game shown by the boys...well done!!...Thanks to the assistant coaches for their great work & thanks to the parents for all your support..
The boys in the CDL today all have that same opportunity...parents, give your son a big hug & encourage him to have the passion, to be the one to step it up....

Man U have a great result in Ajax Tournament...
 | | | Philip and Tristan celebrate Man U goal!! | |
SINGING IN THE RAIN ... Adjusting to the tough field conditions in Ajax, the U8 Man U boys lost their 1st game to the host club 3-2. The boys then went on to win their next 3 games beating Mississuaga Falcons 3-1, edging both Toronto Olympic Flames 5-4 and Pickering 1-0 to top Group B and make the semis. Next up were the top rated North Toronto Nitros. In a close tight match, back and forth (0-0 at half) the game ended 3-1 for the Nitros who went on to win the tournament. Not to leave empty handed the Man U boys all received a very nice Ajax medal for their efforts.
The Man U boys did the club and the city of London proud in their gutsy performance, coach Steve had 14 players which include 2 underagers (boys born in 01) and managed to get everyone into the games. The boys bonded well as a team off the field as they had a great/fun time at the hotel hanging out, playing mini sticks, watching a movie and playing tag in the halls.
Tournaments like this are a great experience for the competition we played, the friendships we enjoyed and the bonding we had as a team.
Well done Man U boys on a great performance making the semis of a tough tournament!!!

Man U boys have a great Henderson Tournament!!...
Man U has a great Henderson Tournament...right off the bat, 1st game, a great start, as Man U tied 2-2 our own NL Blue Devils (finished 2nd in the u9A division)...Man U was leading the game late, but the Blue Devils scored to share the pts...Man U despite losing the next 3 games...Brampton 4-0, Woodbridge 5-1 (eventually tournament champs, as they beat NL Red Devils A 4-3 in final) & Toronto Eagles 4-2 (who ended up group winners at 4-0), the Man U boys were in all 4 games, in 3 of the games, down only 1 goal at half time as the boys dug deep, some gutsy play to fight the bigger, older teams...coach Steve was very proud of Man U performance playing up in the Henderson...the experience was invaluable in their overall development of as players....thanks to guest players...Lucas from Tillsonburg & Ryan from Lambeth....well done to all the Man U boys!!...the future looks very bright for the Man U 2000 boys as they head into indoor & 2009 outdoor...Go Man U!!

CDL Blue (Chelsea)...u7 playing up had a super tournament finishing 4th (out of 6 teams) in the rournd robin play with 4pts...Chelsea beat West Hamilton 4-0 & tied Nor'West 1-1...coach Steve was pleased with the boys effort & soccer skills taking on the older teams in this tournament including our own Man U team...congrats, well done Chelsea!!
The CDL program...tournament teams, was a great success this summer 2008 as the Man U team book end the season with tournament championships...starting with MU (Middlesex United) in June, were finalist in Oakridge Faith, Tillsonburg & semi finalist in Ajax...

CDL Program, its importance to player development
The importance of the NLSC club CDL program...started 5 years ago, the Club Development League (CDL) is an important 1st step in the development of players, boys/girls, from ages u7-u9, the development the core skills (getting touches on the ball, gaining control of the ball, proper passing/receiving/dribbling techniques all the time allowing players to be creative (making up 'their own moves' with the ball) & having fun creating a passion for the sport of soccer...
Since the club doesn't have its own house league program to draw upon, the club felt it necessary/important to start its own gender based select HL to 'feed' our u9 LDYSL outdoor boys & girls teams each season...the past seasons for the club's younger teams that played/were developed in our CDL 4v4 indoor/outdoor program were an amazing success, the CDL success in 2009....4 Tournament wins while in 2008...2 tournament wins (MU & Nor'West) & 2 finalist...the 2007 results; only one(1) loss in 119 games...Wow!!: wonderful results, its not all about winning however, but the process (development of core soccer skills) which ultimately leads to this success/results on the field...
Man U(00),Chelsea(01) & Liverpool(02) coaching staff:
Steve Brazier, 'coach Steve', a non-parent coach with 15+ years of competitive soccer coaching experience...organized/ran the CDL MSL outdoor league & coached the Man U tournament team(s) in 2008...prior, spent 4 years as the squad coach for the Gunners(96) boys, developing the team(s) from u8 to u11, during that span, the Gunners were crowned champions 17 + times in league, CCup & tournament play with the Gunners now u13, playing WOYSL, L3 in 2009...
Coach Steve has 'looped back' to the u8/u9 age group & will now look to lead, oversee the CDL program, 'kick' starting the development of the u9 Man U(00), u8 Chelsea(01) & u7 Liverpool(02) team(s) as they prepare for the LDYSL u9 division play in their respective year...Go Man U!! ...Go Chelsea!!..Go Liverpool!!
