  Waves Team Rules

Lake Erie Waves Team Rules
1. Bats: No Swinging bats unless you have been told by a coach to practice swinging and you are a safe distance from other players. This is so we do not hit another player by accident with a bat.

2. Helmets: Helmets must be worn at all times when batting even during practice. When catching for warm up, practice or during a game a helmet with face mask must be worn. When players or other minors serve as base coaches or bat girls they must wear helmets.

3. Sliding: Sliding is an important part of the game of softball. Pants or sliding shorts should be worn for playing fastpitch softball to protect legs from scrapes when sliding.

4. Practice: All girls are expected to attend practices. Attendance will be taken at all practices. If you have to leave early or come late please notify the coach in advance. If you can not attend a practice please let the head coach know by the previous practice or call or email him at home if you are sick. Emails should be sent within a reasonable time frame so the coach would be expected to read it before leaving for practice. Players must attend at least 50% of practices to be guaranteed playing time in tournaments.

5. Attendance:   Failure to field a complete team can result in our teams forfeiture of all games during a tournament. No refund or partial refund will be made for absence from any games or tournaments. If you will miss a game or tournament or are planning a vacation give your coach a written notice in advance as soon as possible. Except for extreme last minute emergencies your coach should be aware at least 2-3 days before a tournament who will not be there. Failure to notify the coach in advance of your absence from a tournament will result in suspension from the team. (See # 9 below)

6. Start Time: All players are to be on the field 1 hour before game time unless told otherwise. Those arriving late may be benched the entire game and/or will not be guaranteed playing time.

7. Rain Outs: DO NOT ASSUME a game or practice is canceled because of bad weather. Every player will be called.   If there is another number to call other than the one on the roster let the coach know. Rain at tournaments may result in fewer games than guaranteed. Generally we will receive no refund for this.

8. Playing time: All players with good attendance and in good standing can expect to play a minimum of half of game playing time. This may mean half the innings in a game or half the games in a tournament. (ie... 3 innings out of a 6 inning game, or 2 full games out of a 4 game tournament)

9. Suspension or quitting the team: If a player is suspended they will not be permitted to play in any tournaments or games. Suspension may be lifted if player demonstrates they have corrected the problems which caused it. No refund or partial refund of fees will be made to any player who is suspended or quits the team.
