Another exciting event is coming up! The Arizona Diamondbacks and San Francisco Giants will host Madison Little League Day on Sunday May 13th at Chase Field. All players and coaches in uniform will be able to walk on the field before the game. Flyers have been passed out to your coaches and are available at the snack bar. All ticket orders are due back to your coaches by Monday April 23rd. This is a really fun and unique opportunity for your kids. There is nothing like walking on the field, seeing the thousands of fans in the stands and being within 20 feet of a professional ball player warming up for the game.
Bring Mom to the event and she’ll get Diamondback earrings. A day at the ballpark and a free Mother’s Day gift! What could be better?
Little League International Awards
Each year Little League International recognizes individuals for their commitment to, and participation in, the Little League program. Please consider nominating individuals from Madison Little League for an award. By recognizing members of our local league, you help demonstrate the benefits and values of volunteerism, family and sportsmanship. All applications should be turned in to jen@madisonll.org no later than May 18th. A brief overview of the various awards is listed below.
Good Sport Award
The Little League Good Sport Award Program is designed to provide local leagues the opportunity to recognize a Little Leaguer who has demonstrated superior qualities of sportsmanship, leadership, a commitment to teamwork and a desire to excel. Of most importance, the criteria for selection of the Good Sport Award recipient is in no way based on the youngster’s playing ability or personal statistics.
This award program was established in 1989 to amplify the importance of Little League as a leadership training program utilizing baseball and softball as a vehicle for instilling in children these valuable principles. The Little League Good Sport of the Year Award program is presented during the Little League World Series held in August in South Williamsport, PA.
Mom of the Year Award
The Little League Mom of the Year Award was established in 1991 as a symbolic form of recognition and tribute to the millions of mothers in communities around the globe who contribute their time and effort to the Little League program.
Each year Little Leaguers compose an essay that explains why their mothers should be the official Little League Mom of the Year. From that group, one Little Leaguer’s mother is selected as the official Little League Mom of the Year.
More important than the recognition received by the Mom of the Year is the true appreciation for their mother each child develops as they list in their essays the special efforts she has made on their behalf. The Mom of the Year Award is presented during the Little League World Series held in August in South Williamsport, PA.
Volunteer of the Year Award
Designed to provide local leagues the opportunity to honor a deserving individual with this prestigious distinction, the Little League Volunteer of the Year Award Program was established in 1989 as a vehicle for recognizing the selfless efforts of nearly 1-million volunteers at the grass-roots level of Little League Baseball. The Little League Volunteer of the Year Award program is presented during the Little League World Series held in August in South Williamsport, PA.
