Rookie League players are 7 through 8 years old by July 31. Pre-season, the teams practice three times a week - once during the week and again on Saturday and Sunday. During the season, teams play during the week and Saturdays, while practice is always on Sunday. The Rookie league plays by modified rules, using a pitching machine for batting.
