Farewell Seniors
Well fellas, the high school career is now in the books.
Senior Week, summer jobs and freshman orientation are next on your hit parade. Graduation was great!! Lots of pics, laughs, air horns, beach balls and memories.
From the parents and supporters to the senior class - You led by example, you were a class full of class, you played hard, you supported each other always, you held your head high in defeat, you were humble in the wins, you won the County, you won the Regional, you won the State, you had fun, you were admired by other teams, you never quit, you did it in true Viking style.
Never forget your teammates, the roadtrips, the practices, the hard work, the games, the rivalries - Centennial, River Hill, Glenelg, the comebacks, the fans, the cold days, the first day morning run, the hits, the goals, the pipes, OT, double OT, the dog pile, the gold uniforms, the lightening delays, shagging balls, losing 72 balls in one day, the experience.
Rest assured we will never forget you. The memories you gave to us will last a lifetime.
Goodbye Scott, Marty, 2-4, Billy Mac, B-Wov, Scoop, B-Nasty, Sny, Will, Sean, George, David, Andrew, Mark, Valivddm and Matt.

Winning Streak Moves to 9 - Atholton falls to Vikes 14-5
Keeping their playoff intensity dial turned to MAX, the Vikings man handled Altholton in a 14-5 win - extending the Vikes current winning streak to 9. After ending the first quarter 3-1, Hebron extended the lead to 7-2 at halftime. A strong third quarter put the game away.
Scoop led the offense with 5 points (2G, 3A) followed by Harrison (4G), Sax (3G), 2-4 (2G, 1A), George had two great goals, Scott (1G), Marty (1A) and Sean (1A). The Vikes lethal offense has been on fire during the winning streak scoring 126 goals in 9 games, an average of 14 goals per game!
B-Mac had 13 saves, Addison had 1. Wov, Will, Andy and BK played great games at long pole. The 'D' continues to make it tough sledding for any offense. The Vikings DEFENSE have held teams to 43 goals during the 9 game winning streak - that's less than 5 goals per game - EXCEPTIONAL
Tomorrow is the game of the year!!
Men, keep the intensity and the level of play you have showed since the Centennial win and you will be fine!!!!
A message from the fans to each of you. You are playing some of the best lacrosse we have ever seen at Mt. Hebron. Not just this year, but any year. Better than last year! The team 'D', with the potent offense, with the poise, with the intensity, with the sense of team, with the determination, with the killer instinct to finish off a game and an opponent, with the fun you guys have on the field. It's the best we have ever seen. Be determined, play your game, do not be denied, stand as one and have fun out there. When you are loose, athletic and grooving - it is over for the enemy!!
Believe in yourselves. When you show up in Viking style, no team can stay with you for an entire game - maybe for a quarter, or a half, but not an entire game. Believe that!!
Forget the early loss to Centennial. That was a fluke. Take tomorrow seriously, but know that as a team you are peaking at the right time of the season. Know that it is yours for the taking.
Go Vikes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
BEAT CENTENNIAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
A message from me to you. This is my favorite Hebron team - not because Scott plays on it, but because I see something I have not seen in the past. After three years, I see a team that is the best I have ever seen in many ways. I see a team that has tremendous chemistry, tremendous desire, tremendous attitude and tremendous atheletes. Most Hebron teams have parts of that - not all of it. I see a team that is loaded where when one player has a bad day there are many to pick up the shortage - some years we have not had that. I see a team that has six twenty plus goal scorers - I have never seen that. I see a team where the defense has come together - it was built as the season went on (averaging less than 5 goals per game for the last 9 games). I see a team that has no fear - no matter what the situation. Stay together, come out from the first face-off to the last second with the intensity you have showed over the past 3 games, in your title run be poised.....that, if you get down - stand together, use your athletic ability and have the fun and if you do............WE WILL RUN THE TABLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

HEBRON WINS REGIONAL GAME OVER HOWARD, 15-3
The current Viking winning streak was extended to 8 games with a 15-3 win over Howard at Viking Field. Taking the field with a sense of urgency and intensity, the Vikes got off quickly. In fact, the only way to slow down the Vikes was a weather delay. After an hour lightning delay, the Vikings picked up where they left off - smothering shut-down 'D' and a lethal offensive display.
B-Wov, Wil and Andy worked hard and shut down one of the top county scorers, while Mr. Mac had 16 saves - Addison chipped in with 2 saves.
On offense, Sax had a personal season-high 8 points with 3G and 5A - what a game Sax!! Sean had a personal season-high of 3 goals, 2-4 had 4 goals, Scoop had 3G, Scott had 3A, Harrison and Marty each had 1 and 1.
Hebron got about every ground ball with Mr. 2-4 netting a season-high 10, Scoop had 9, Sax, B-Wov and Scott each had 4.
2-4 was awesome in the face-off circle.
Way to go Vikes!!

IN DOUBLE OT.........HEBRON CROWNED HOWARD COUNTY CHAMPIONS
Marty hit the game winner in the second OT to propel the Vikes to a win over arch rival Centennial, 9-8. The win capped off a 10-1 2007 HoCo record and brought the Howard County Championship back to Mount Hebron!!
CONGRATULATIONS BOYS!!
From the start, the Vikings came out strong taking an early 3-0 lead. After Centennial tied the game, the game seesawed back and forth until late in the fourth quarter when the Vikes fell behind 8-6 with a little over four minutes left. Showing poise, immense grit, tremendous heart and a ferocious will to win the Vikes fought back to tie the game in regulation at 8.
The first OT went without anyone scoring then in the second quarter Marty scored on a wrap around. The ENTIRE Viking defense played the best defensive game of the year. Double teams, stopped shots, blocked shots, fierce checking, unbelievable steals, ground ball machines and hard hitting defined the entire Hebron effort. In goal, Billy Mac had a season high 20 saves!! He was a man possessed in goal - stopping everything in sight - even at point blank range. Will had an incredible game at long pole with many steals. B-Wov played well and shut down Stumpf when he went down low. BK and Andy played relentless defense sealing the defense. The middies - Marty, Bobby, Brendan, Scott, Sean and George kept the top sealed off stopping any and all penetration.
In the circle, Scott and 2-4 controlled the ball for most of the faceoffs - winning 65% of the faceoffs. 2-4 winning some key ones late in the game. Sax lit up the Centennial defense for 3 goals on some superb shots. Marty and Scoop each scored 2 and dished 1 for three points. Harrison had 1 and 1 for the game. 2-4 (1G) and Scott (1A) each added a point.
It was a total team effort and a great effort in starting the 2007 playoff schedule.
Thanks to the many Hebron fans who came to the game. I believe there were more Viking fans in the stands than Centennial fans. True to Viking style and support!!
Next game in Thursday under the lights at Viking Field. Game starts at 7PM
Here we go Vikes. PLAYOFF TRAIN ON A ROLL!!
Saturday, May 5
On Senior Night, Hebron Train Keeps Rolling with 16-7 win over Reservoir
On senior night at Vikings Field, the Vikes dominated Reservoir in a 16-7 win. Extending their win streak to 6, and their HoCo record to 9-1, the Vikings took control early and never let up. After taking a 2-0 lead in the first quarter, Hebron launched its lethal scoring machine - taking a 9-1 lead in to halftime. Quickly conceding three quick goals in the second half, the Vikes settled down and took back control of the game finishing the home win off in Viking style.
The Seniors scored 13 of the 16 goals. Seniors scoring for the Vikes were - B-Nass (1G), George (1G, 1A). David (1G), Sean (1G), 2-4 (4G, 1A), Marty (1G, 1A), Scott (2G), Scoop (2G). Andrew and Matt played very well running the middie lines and controlling to offense.
Scoring seven points on the night was Harrison Chaires (2G, 5A) - Sax added 1 and 1 and Kevin had 1 assist.
As usual, the defense played exceptionally well. Billy Mac with 10 saves and the usual agressive shut down 'D' of B-Wov, Will, BK and Andy. Nick and Hisham played strong second half defense for the Vikings.
Every senior had the opportunity to see extensive playing time - congratulations to the seniors B-Nass, George, David, Sean, 2-4, Marty, Scott, Scoop, Billy Mac, B-Wov, Will, Nick, Marc, Matt, Andrew, Hisham - on a great win, a strong season, a 9-1 Howard County record and all the best as the playoff season starts.

Vikes Continue Win Streak with 18-5 Win over Marriotts Ridge
A team peaking at the right time of the season, the Vikings stretched their current win streak to 5 with a 18-5 win over Marriotts Ridge. Improving their Howard County record to 8-1, the Vikes have outscored their opponents 85-30 during the 5-game streak.
As always, the defense glove unit of Billy Mac, B-Wov, Will, BK and Andy shut down the Marriots Ridge offense. Heavy checking, double teaming and dominant ground ball play defined the defensive effort the entire game. Billy Mac had 18 saves in goal!! Addison played exceptionally well in the second half stopping 6.
On offense, the scoring barrage just keeps on coming. 9 different Vikings scored led by Scoop (4G, 1A), Harrison (3G, 1A) Scott (3G, 1A), Marty (2G, 2A), Sax (1G, 3A), 2-4 (2G, 1A), David (1G, 1A), B-Nass (1G), George (1G).
Season-to-date, Hebron is averaging 13 goals per game while giving up only 7 goals per game.
A correction. I was informed last night that there is no breakfast bet between Brendan and David - someone gave me some bad information after the Long Reach game. Both scored in the MR game.

Vikes Improve to 7-1 in Howard County Play
The Vikings improved to 7-1 in Howard County play, with a 15-4 win over Hammond at Viking Field. Mt. Hebron came out aggressive on defense and firing on offense taking a 9-4 lead in to halftime.
Defensively, Billy Mac had 8 saves - the defensive front line of Will, B-Wov, BK and Andy kept the Hammond offense very frustrated by consistently stipping the ball, scooping every ground ball and allowing very few shots. The defense pitched a shutout in the second half allowing no goals. EXCEPTIONAL effort guys!!
Offensively, the Vikes moved the balls nicely the entire game. Leading the scoring parade was Brendan H (4G), Scott (3G, 1A), Harrison (1G, 3A), Sax (3G), 2-4 (2 G, 1A), Marty (1G, 1A), David Thornhill (1G), Sean McNeil (1A).
A fun fact - it appears there is a little breakfast wager between David Thornhill and Brendan Nass for most goals scored in the season. With a goal yesterday, David took the lead in the breakfast derby.
Saturday, April 21
Vikings Dominate Long Reach, 21-6
The Vikes traveled to Long Reach and for the second game in a row they put the game away early. Scoring at will, 10 different Vikings lit the scoring lamp, led by Harrison (4G, 2A), Scott (4G), Brendan Harrison (3G, 1A), George (3G, 1A), Sax (2G, 2A), 2-4 (3A), Kevin Meehan (2G), David Thornhill (1G), Brian Webb (1G), Mark Hengemihle (1A). Taking a 16-1 lead in to halftime, Hebron dominated every category - shots on goal, ground balls and Scott controlled faceoffs. The dominance carried over into the second half.
On defense, Billy Mac, B-Wov, BK and Will threw a first half blanket over the LR offense - allowing only one goal in the first half.
In another game where every Viking saw the field, the team look very strong and very cohesive. Every line - offensive and defensive looked very good.
Marty, we know you want to play and we miss you on the field. Take the time needed to get better. We still have a long road to States!! You will be a key part of the run!!

HEBRON ROLLS, 18-5
The Vikings showed their muscle when Oakland Mills came to Viking Field. Taking command from the start, the Vikes used a smothering defense and a lethal offensive attack to put the game away early.
On the defensive side of the ball in the first half, Oakland Mills struggled to run their offense as B-Wov, BK, Will and Andy smothered the OM attack. Mr. Mac was his usual self in goal limiting OM to 2 goals in the first half.
On offensive side in the first half, Sax, 2-4, Scott and Harrison put on a passing and shooting clinic - Sax had 4 goals and two assists - Bobby had 5 assists, 1 goal; Scott scored 5 goals and Harrison added 4 goals and an assist.
It was hard to keep up with all the scoring action!!
Coming out of halftime with a 15-2 lead, the Vikes kept the momentum going.
Offensively, David Thornhill had a goal and an assist, George Olean, Matt McGinty and Kevin Meehan each had a goal. Sean McNeil and Mark Hengenmihle each contributed an assist. Kevin, Charles, George, Andrew, Mark, David, Matt, Russell, and Joe ran the second half midfield to perfection.
Defensively, Aleric, Brian, Billy, Hisham, Chaz and Nick played shut down long pole D in the second half. Addison was stopping shots left and right in goal.
All-in-all every single player made a strong contribution to this county win.
Way to go Vikes!!

Girls - We are Very Proud of You!
Girls, while the streak came to an end yesterday, our pride in you keeps on!
The streak of 103 wins is something that may never be touched by any school again.
Your success, and the streak are almost inconceivable - especially when you think, you never once ducked an opponent or a challenge!! Every single game, teams circled the calendar when they saw Mt. Hebron - it was their game of the year - and you always answered the challenge.
Your heart, skill, intensity, sacrafice, belief, camaradarie, determination and humbleness always showed and was something special for all of us to experience. The national attention never changed your attitude, work ethic or dedication to excellence.
Our school, our community, our state and women's lacrosse take great pride in your accomplishments.
Yesterday, in your typical style, you fought until the end - scoring with 1 second left in the game. You illustrated the same poise, composure and class in dealing with a loss that you did in all 103 wins.
You are very special!
Be proud of yourselves - we are!!

Vikes lose Heartbreaker, 8-7
The annual Mt. Hebron/Centennial battle was just that last night. A battle to the end. And, then some more in overtime. It was a hard hitting, intense game played at Centennial. The game went back and forth. Down 5-2, the Vikes fought back to go in to halftime down 5-4. In the third quarter, the Vikings took a 6-5 lead. From there, Centennial took a 7-6 until Sax tied the game with a little over a 1:30 left in the game. Unfortunately, the Vikes lost in OT, 8-7. There is no reason for the Vikings to hang their heads - it was a well played game. It was a game where it is a shame either team had to lose. For those that were there, we saw some very good lacrosse - and a lot of heart.
Sax led the scoring with 3 goals. 2-4 had a goal and 2 assists; Brendan and Marty each had (1G, 1A); Harrison (1G) and Sean (1A).
Billy Mac had 17 saves in goal - several at point blank range. B-Wov, BK, Will and Andy played tough man-to-man 'D'.

In a home game at Viking field, The Vikes defense shut down Wilde Lake 8-0 to gain another Howard county win. Billy Mac pitched a shut out in goal. Will, B-Wov, BK, Andy and Andrew played tough at long pole limiting Wilde Lake to just 13 shots. Mt. Hebron dominated ground balls over Wilde Lake 32-4; led by Will (8 GB), Sean and Scott (5 ea.) and Brendan Harrison (4).
Starting the scoring machine in the first quarter was 2-4 on a quick feed from Harrison. After ending the first quarter at 1-0 Hebron, the Vikes scored three (Sax, Brendan & 2-4) in the second quarter to take control and a 4-0 lead in to halftime. Four goals (Scott (2), Harrison (2)) in the third quarter put the game away for the Vikings. In the game, the Vikes outshot Wilde Lake 34-13.
The total team defense was DOMINANT - goalie, long pole and middie 'D' all played exceptionally well.
Leading the scoring was, 2-4 (2G, 2A), Harrison (2G,1A), Scott (2G, 1A), Brendan (1G, 2A), Sax (1G, 1A), George (1A).
BIG GAME FRIDAY UNDER THE LIGHTS!

Vikings Suffer Set Back at the Gerry Case Memorial Tournament
The Vikings had a tough day at the Gerry Casey Memorial Tournament at Broadneck High School. The first game against Broadneck HS had the Vikings fighting against a tough Bruins Team. The Vikings scored 6 goals behind the efforts of Brendan Harrison (3), Marc Saxton (2) and Bobby Cooke (1) with Billy Mac saving 8 but that could not match the Bruin’s 11 goals.
The second game featured the Vikings against the James Madison HS Warhawks. The Warhawks scored first but the Vikings came right back and took the lead. The game went back and forth with both teams scoring 9 goals into the 4th quarter. With 9 seconds remaining the Warhawks made their final shot and scored the winning goal – Vikings 9, Warhawks 10. Several players had the opportunity to shine with Charles Stroble winning several face offs and goals from Harrison Chaires (5), Brendan Harrison (2), Marc Saxton (1) and Sean McNeil (1). Brandon Wolven led an excellent defense with support from Will Hollwig, Andy McCloskey, Bryan Kanahan, and Andrew Prantl. The offense had great support with George Olean, David Thornhill, and Brendan Nass picking up ground balls.
A long day and a great show from the whole team.

There was just not enough time for the Vikes to come all the way back.

The Vikes continued their early seasom momentum with a 15-10 win over Atholton. In a game where many Vikings saw the field, Mt. Hebron controlled the game from the start.

2007 Boys Lacrosse Schedule
As usual, the Vikings play a very demanding schedule. They wouldn't have it any other way. The demanding schedule pays off during the playoff season.
Every year, LaxPower publishes Power Ratings for each team within their state. The rating is based on a complex formula of schedule strength, quality wins, goals scored, goals let up, etc. To date, Mt. Hebron has not received its 2007 Power Rating from LaxPower. They have rated several of our opponents. I think you will see the quality of the 2007 schedule through these Power Ratings and National Rankings.
| Upper Arlington | Ranked #21 nationally by Inside Lacrosse |
| River Hill | Power rating #35 in MD |
| Mt. St. Joseph | Power rating #1 in the MIAA |
| | Honorable Mention rating from Inside Lacrosse |
| Chapel Hill (4A) | Power rating #2 in North Carolina |
| Broadneck (4A) | Power rating #32 in MD |
| Centennial | Power rating #40 in MD |
During the course of the year, the Power Ratings change based on the play of the team. If you want to check progress of the Vikings Power Rating go to www.laxpower.com. It typically changes every week or two.

Viking Lacrosse hits Charlottesville
The Vikings made their annual trek to Charlottesville to play in the Albemarle Lacrosse Jamboree. Playing 4 games in 6 hours the Vikings looked sharp. In game 1 against Albermarle, the Viking's stringent defense and an offense that controlled the ball for the entire game proved too much for Albemarle. In games 2 and 3, the Vikings played nationally ranked Upper Arlington (ranked #21 by Inside Lacrosse Magazine). Both games were very physical. Using grit, a lot of heart and superior lacrosse skills, the Vikings split the two-game set proving that they can play with any team, even a nationally ranked team. Finishing out the day, Hebron ended with Montclair.
The Vikings open the season this Tuesday against River Hill.
