WHAT TYPE OF GAME DOES THE MTFL PLAY?
We use National Federation of State High School Associations 9-man football rules. There are a few additional rules modifications.

WHAT'S 9-MAN FOOTBALL?
Basically it is 11-man football minus 2 offensive tackles and 2 defensive players. Rules are the same except there are no numbering requirements by position. The offense must have 5 men on the line of scrimmage, 3 of which (all except the ends) are ineligible.

WHAT KIND OF BALL DOES THE MTFL USE?
We will be using Wilson 1001 game balls this season.

HOW MANY PLAYERS CAN BE ON A TEAM?
Teams are required to maintain a roster of at least 20 players and may have up to 50 players. They must be able to dress 12 for every game or forfeit.

CAN I PLAY IF I DON'T HAVE HEALTH INSURANCE?
NO!!! THE MTFL DOES NOT PROVIDE COVERAGE FOR PLAYER INJURIES! Players are required to sign a waiver that, in part, states that they have and will continue to have accident and injury insurance throughout the time they play and train for the MTFL and that they understand it is not the league's responsibility to provide this. IF YOU DO NOT ALREADY HAVE YOUR OWN MEDICAL INSURANCE, YOU MUST OBTAIN IT OR YOU CANNOT PLAY IN THE MTFL.

DOES THE LEAGUE FURNISH EQUIPMENT FOR PLAYERS?
No, each player is responsible for acquiring and maintaining the proper equipment as specified by the National Federation.

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST TO PLAY?
2007 Player registration is per team. A full set of NEW equipment usually costs around $300. If a team does not have a sponsor(s), it will likely have to charge its players a fee for team operating costs to cover items such as balls, uniforms, an equipment repair kit, team fee, etc. All told, cost to each first-year player who does not already have equipment (and buys it new) can be in the $500 range. However, keep in mind that once you own equipment it should last years if properly maintained.

WHEN ARE GAMES PLAYED?
We attempt to schedule all games on Saturdays but there may be occasions where we have Sunday games. Kickoff time(s) will depend upon the number of teams entered in the league but games will take place during daylight hours. Also, in consideration of field conditions, there is the possibility of weather-related cancellations or re-schedulings.

WHERE ARE GAMES PLAYED?
Games will be at HLHS & FCA for the 2007 season.
