Ladies,
This highlight film shows the masterful skills of the first team we will play during the Gulf Coast Cup. Their strengths are very obvious. They all seem to have very strong legs and above average ball control skills. Please take my advice and learn from their excellent training program.

We play a 2-3-2 formation. That means that we have two defenders, three midfielders, and two forwards.
Defenders are also called "full backs." Can anyone guess why they would be called "full backs?"
Midfielders are called midfielders! With the exception of the central midfielder. That player is known as the "center half." Midfielders who play on the wings are simply called, depending on their location, the "left and right midfielders."
Forwards are the same as the outside midfielders. Left or right! Start scoring goals ASAP or they will be called "bench warmers."
Take a pencil and paper, draw a soccer field, include the markings on the field (ie. goal box etc.). On one side of the field, draw the 2-3-2 formation. A) How many diamonds do you see? B) How many passing options do you have? C) Why as a team, is it so important to maintain the shape of our formation?
There will be several tests based upon the handouts that I gave to each player and on what we have been working on in practice over the last month!!! Get prepared now!

The schedule and brackets for the Red Stick tournament has been added to the handout section.
"If you want to be a champion, you must play like a champion!"
Jose Mourinho, former manager of Chelsea Football Club
No pre-practice laps for the first player to post the correct answers on the website, a) where was Jose born? b) what is the name of the stadium that Chelsea Football Club play their home games? c) which European country did Coach Emma play for?

Where do I run and when?
1) Run to threaten space.
2) Run to support the player with the ball. Diamond shape!
3) Run to create space (pulling a defender away from the space that the offense would like to attack).
4) Make your decisions based upon a) what your team mates are doing during the attack b) how much pressure is the player with the ball under c) am i being marked tightly or am I open d) field conditions and weather, is the field wet and slow or dry and fast? How windy is it? must we keep our passes low?
These are just a few options to keep in mind while we are attacking. Even if you do not have the ball at your feet, you still have the responsibilty to position yourself in support of the player with the ball.
Let the ball do the work!!!!
