Indoor 2012-13 Award Winner-Atharva Kulkarni
This being our first year of coaching, we did not expect to coach someone as dedicated, pleasant, respectful and determined as Atharva Kulkarni. Atharva, or At, as he's known to his teammates, is one of the quiet leaders of the team. He sets a positive example for his teammates every day without being disruptive or boastful. At is on time for every practise and game, and is always prepared to work hard and do his best for the team. At plays hard, but fair, and will do what is best for the team. He prefers to play midfield, but due to a shortage of defenders has spent most of the season playing defence, without complaint. He is a very unselfish player, preferring to look for an open teammate instead of taking a shot on goal. He respects the decisions of the referee without question, and is always the first to help up a fallen teammate or opponent. At is always grateful for everyone's contribution to the team, including us coaches. He approaches us after every game and practise to shake our hands and thank us for our efforts. We feel that At is the perfect candidate for this award, as he exemplifies all of the criteria well.

History MSB United, in conjunction with the family and the Beddington O-45 Mens Team, initiated a Sportsmanship Award to be presented each season, in his memory. Kyle was an MSB player & referee for several years during his youth, and tragically died in a motorcycle accident in 2006. His family & friends sponsor this seasonal award in memory of Kyle. Coaches nominate one player from their team each indoor and outdoor season. Deadline Jan 31st/June 30th.
