Press Release: MSBL New Bat Rule for
2012
Wednesday September
28, 2011 – The Mid Suburban
Baseball League (MSBL) announced that the League Directors voted unanimously to
approve a new bat rule for the 2012 season. The reason for the change was for
the safety of the athletes that play in the MSBL.
For a bat to be MSBL
legal beginning in 2012 it must have a “1.15 BPF” or “BBCOR” mark permanently
attached to the bat or be a wood bat. The U14 division will be the only
division that must use a -5 or -3 bat.
The MSBL is a not for profit league of full time travel teams playing competitive level baseball for players age from 9-14 years old. With the growth of the MSBL we have been able to offer "American", "National" and "Elite" Divisions to ensure teams have a competitive league for all. The MSBL uses IHSA rules with a few exceptions that are age dependant, by basing our rules on IHSA we offer the same considerations for the health and safety of the players as well as best preparing them for High School play. The season runs from April 1st. to later part of June with a year end tournament. The teams play between 18-28 league games.
