Martinsburg Little League: 2012 Spring Season Divisions
T-BALL utilizes the batting tee rather than the pitched ball, is for players ages 4-7. Five year olds are eligible for Tee-Ball only. Six year olds with no prior experience are eligible for Tee-Ball only. Seven year olds with no prior experience have a choice of playing Tee-Ball or Rookie. It is essentially an instructional league where hitting, throwing and catching a baseball are taught for the first time. The ball is hit from a tee at home plate.
Rookie
Rookie Division consists primarily of 7 & 8 year olds. First year of hitting a pitched ball from a machine or coach.
Minor
Minor Division consists primarily of 9, 10 & 11 year olds. Players are first introduced to a pitched ball by another player. Batting and fielding is emphasized at this level.
Major
The Major Division consists of skilled and experienced 9, 10, 11 and 12 year olds. Selection on a Major team is made through the draft system.
Junior
Junior Division is an expansion of the Little League® to accommodate young people who are league ages 13 and 14. The game is played on a 90 foot field, the same as high school and college baseball.
