Travel Teams - U9 and older (Generally, third grade and up)

Middlebury Soccer Association is a member club of the Connecticut Junior Soccer Association (CJSA) Northwest District. Many of the policies and procedures we follow (such as roster size and classification of players by age) are dictated by CJSA. All players must be registered with CJSA

CSJA is currently organized into two divisions I and II. Division II emphasizes participation over competition with each player playing at least ½ the game. Division I is more competitive with no playing time requirement. A player may be included on two team’s roosters. MSA encourages division I coaches to give all players a fair amount of playing time throughout the season.

Based on team’s performance, CJSA may require a division II team to move into a division I league. Other towns in the Northwest district typically have tryouts for division I teams. Due to our limited size, Middlebury Soccer Association generally does not have tryouts.

Players are expected to wear shin guards, cleats and to purchase their own uniforms (shirts, shorts and socks). Uniforms must be worn to all games to enhance the team concept and appearance. At the higher levels of competition (Division I, Premier and Select), players may be asked to purchase addition uniform items such as sweatshirts or other apparel.

Beyond division I, players can also try out for district-wide competitive teams in the District Select and Premier classifications, more info available at the CJSA website, www.cjsa.org or by calling CJSA @ 860-224-CJSA (2572).
