Middlebury Soccer Association

MISSION STATEMENT

The Middlebury Soccer Association, Inc. (MSA) is dedicated to promoting youth soccer by providing all children the opportunity to play the game in an organized program at appropriate levels with these objectives:

Encouraging enjoyment of the game

Fostering team spirit

Building soccer skills

Building confidence in every player

MSA is also committed to encouraging constructive involvement of parents and supporting excellence in coaching.

MSA is a non-profit corporation dedicated to youth soccer. MSA is operated by a board of directors who also serve as officers. The board meets on the fourth Wednesday of each month (except December) at the Shepardson Community Center.

All Middlebury soccer families are welcome and encouraged to attend board meeting. Please call one of the officers to confirm the date and time.

MSA is a member club of the Connecticut Junior Soccer Association (CJSA) Northwest District. Many of the policies and procedures we follow (such as roster size and classification of players by age) are dictated by CJSA. MSA players are registered with CJSA.

The soccer program is open to all interested players and MSA will make every reasonable effort to provide players a place on a team.

MSA offers fall and spring seasons, with a professional camp in summer and professional coaching during each playing season.

Players are classified by age with those up to age eight playing on the “in-house” teams and older players on “travel teams.”

Travel teams play teams in the same age group from other Northwest District towns. Travel teams can have two Divisions. Division II emphasizes participation over competition with each player playing at least half the game. Division I is more competitive with no playing time requirement. If a Division II team wins their Division, they are automatically moved to Division I by CJSA.
