Medina Bees Youth Football, Inc: CHEERLEADING
2010 Cheerleading
Welcome, to those of you who are new to Medina Bees Youth Football as well a=our returning cheerleaders. MBYF is the largest cheerleading league in Medina. We offer cheerleading to girls ages 6-13. Younger girls may participate as mascots. As an MBYF cheerleader, we will provide you with the best coaching and uniforms available. We provide everything that you will need uniform, hair bow, undergarments, etc. You will be taught the cheers, jumps and dances used by the Medina High School Cheer Squads. We limit our squad sizes to promote more individualized coaching.
In 2009 we instituted "spirit nights" during which all of the squads came together to make different fun a creative projects such as noise makers, banners, car decorating, and more. It was a great way to for all of the girls to come together a "Medina" cheerleaders.
MBYF has the largest number of cheerleaders in Medina County. In 2009 nearly 200 girls participated as cheerleaders. You may have seen our cheerleaders featured in the Medina Post as they all performed a well choreographed dance routine at our Kick Off Classic Tournament or during spirit night at the Medina High School Football games. Many of our former MBYF Cheerleaders are now cheering for the Middle Schools and Medina High School.
In order to make cheerleading available to more girls, our registration fee is on $35 for the 2010 season. We will still provide the highest level of instruction and uniforms of any youth organization.
All of our teams have a cheer squad. Sisters are assigned to the same team as their brothers (unless a large disparity in age). Cheerleaders practice at the same time and location as the football squads. Practices start August 3, 2009. All practices are from 6-7:30 p.m. at the Medina High School Athletic Complex. Cheer squads will practice Monday-Thursday until school starts. Once school starts, practices will be reduced to 1-2 times per week.
We recognize that Cheerleaders are athletes and as such, we teach them not only the sport but also instill in them confidence, commitment and pride in their accomplishments. We teach them many of the routines that they will use later as Middle School and High School Cheerleaders. Cheerleaders receive all of the benefits of the players. They are included in all MBYF events, such as pool parties, parades, hayrides and more. Every cheerleader receives a trophy at the end of the season.
