About Matrix Jamul

Matrix Jamul is committed to providing quality competitive soccer for the community of Jamul and neighboring areas by enhancing the level of training and competition for those players who have a desire to play at a higher level. We are dedicated to the development of the person and the player, while respecting the AYSO's core philosophies.

Eligibility
League age is based on the player's age as of August 1st. Players may "play up" in age as long as they can demonstrate technical and physical ability in tryouts to compete safely at that level. Players should also be in good standing with Presidio League.

Matrix Registration Fees
Matrix Jamul fees will be approximately $300 for the 8-month season. There are no coaching fees. Fees cover all required CYSA and AYSO registration fees, insurance, field costs, uniform package, Presidio League fees, pictures and referees. Additional costs that may be incurred include practice uniforms, travel bags, tournament fees, indoor league fees, travel expenses, discounted clinics and skills camps or other professional training.

Player Commitment
Once selected to be a member of the Matrix Jamul team, players will be asked to make a firm commitment to that team for the current season. Pre-season training may begin as early as March or April. The regular season is in the Fall, typically from Labor Day until mid-November. Depending on team goals, the post-season can extend into the new year with tournament play play, including Presidio Cup and State Cup.

Matrix Jamul believes that players should be involved in as many activities as possible in order to develop well-rounded athletes and individuals. MJ coaches will work to minimize conflicts. However, it is up to the player and their family to balance their schedule in a way that is not detrimental to the team as it works to develop core skills and team chemistry throughout the season.

Family Support
Parents are expected to support their players, teams and coaches in a positive manner. Parents must meet their player's needs with respect to transportation, fees and equipment. In addition, parents may be asked to volunteer during the season to assist the team in meeting its obligations.

Location of Play

  • Teams will train at local Jamul schools and fields.
  • Regular Season Games – home games will be played at Steele Canyon High School and Jamul Intermediate. Away games are played in the San Diego county area. Matrx Jamul plays in the Presido League South.
  • Tournaments – Matrix Jamul teams will compete in tournaments throughout the season. Tournaments are selected for their potential for team development as well as locaion. Tournament locations are generally within the San Diego County area, though teams may agree to play outside the area.
